I looked into my 2 stage 5 hp craftsman, and it has a plastic impeller.
I won't mess with that, although I did see about 1/2" gap all aroound, and did not like that. [links]

Can you use a snowblower on wet snow?

If your snowblower isn't clearing pavement well, first turn off the snowblower and clear any snow that's built up in the chute. A clogged chute won't throw snow very far. A worn, stretched auger belt won't spin the auger fast enough to throw snow off the pavement, so replace the auger belt if it's worn. [links]

Not suited for heavy and wet snow: Wet and heavy snow can clog the snow thrower and make it stop or even breakdown. … If in your area snow is always below 6 inches, then you can go with a two or three stage snow blower.

WD-40 Specialist Silicone lube should work fine on your snowblower auger and chute area to reduce snow and ice buildup during operation. Before applying the lube, make sure the auger and chute area are dry and free of rust, dirt and any oil or grease.

Yes. i apply it each time I use any of my snowblowers, single or two stage. If they get used they get sprayed. I spray the chute, the impellers, augers and inside of the bucket.

2. Adjusting snow blower clearing height. Skid shoes are adjusted to simply raise or lower your snow blower height, but they’ll also need to be adjusted each time an adjustment is made to the scraper blade so an effective clearing height is maintained.
