Hey Griz, I just got back a 15yr old GW that I gave to my brother 10yrs ago and am redoing it now. I received one of those tips and tricks emails from my dad a few months ago regarding penetrating oils for bolt removal. They did the usual, pb blaster, wd40 and 3in1 and did a ft/lb measurment required to break loose a stuck bolt. The best was a 50/50 mix of acetone and transmission fluid. It required almost 1/2 the force to remove the bolt. I tried it when removing some ss pins on the gator mount and was amazed at how much it helped. I just went out and removed the nut on the prop and couldnt see any lock pin required for removal. My prop is stuck on from some corrosion also, so I treated it with the 50/50, will let you know tomorrow if it was successful.
I hope this helps you out.
well that only took like 5 minutes, I went back out to the garage and all it took was wiggling the prop from side to side a few times. I could tell it broke loose and a few wiggles later it was off. here

You are over-thinking this. Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey just like a light bulb. The screw slot is actually in the end of the prop shaft and is not a screw at all. Hold the prop in one hand and remove the screw. The slot is in the shaft so in the event you sheared the prop drive pin, the shaft would spin inside the prop would it not? In that case you hold the shaft with a flat blade screwdriver while you remove the wing nut. This is not an issue for installation since you would be using the shear pin so you can hold the prop and the shaft won't spin. [links]
