An inboard is a four-stroke automotive engine adapted for marine use. Inboard engines are mounted inside the hull's midsection or in front of the transom. The engine turns a drive shaft that runs through the bottom of the hull and is attached to a propeller at the other end.

Removing an inboard-powered boat’s propeller is a straightforward boating DIY task. Sometimes, though, a prop will cling to its shaft with the tenacity of a barnacle to a piling. The following tips may prove helpful to all those who need to remove a propeller.
Try a Grab Grasp the propeller firmly by the root of two blades. Give an even pull. If it slides off the taper, sing praises to the deity of your choice. Watch out for the shaft key, which often falls out at this point. Box up the old prop and send it off for reconditioning, then install the new prop. Prop removal is rarely this easy, so check out some more removal tips. [links]
Leave the Nut On
With a block of wood preventing the prop from spinning, remove the cotter pin and loosen both nuts. Remove the half-height nut completely and leave the full-height nut on the tail of the shaft, with all of its threads engaged. Since there's usually at least some force required in removing a prop, this prevents the prop from falling and becoming damaged (or landing on your head, hands or feet) as it pops loose. [links]

Outboard motor swaps on a toons are very simple, I changed mine out in about 4 hours by my self. Depending on what your swapping around yes you may have to also change out the controller, and if you do get another motor get the controller with it. here

Flushing a boat motor by running it out of water is a routine maintenance task. Running the engine without a water source for any length of time will cause damage, so you’ll need to attach a hose to the motor’s water intakes. If your motor doesn’t, you’ll need a set of motor flusher muffs. more

If you run an inboard, expect to pay somewhere between $1,000 – $1,500. Most sailboats can do with a small 5 – 10 horsepower outboard engine without problems. These engines are easy to maintain and cheap to run. And they’re cheaper to replace.
