Once you’re convinced everything is where it is supposed to be, it’s time to stick them down! We chose the mats with self-adhesive because they are quick and easy to stick down. Simply peel off the backing and press down firmly to hold the mats in place.
The last step in preparation for the new mats is to clean the surface of the ski to ensure the new adhesive will stick. To do this, use Simple Green or another non-abrasive degreaser to remove any remaining chemicals and glue residue. Then, clean the surface once again with rubbing alcohol using a clean rag. Even for an inexperienced enthusiast, installing after market traction mats is a simple, do-it-yourself project that requires only a few cleaning products, a little elbow grease, and a lot of patience.

Once the stock mats are removed, it is important to make sure that all foam residue is removed from the surface of the ski. The WD-40 works extremely well for this step, too. simply spray it onto the surface and use a stiff plastic putty knife to scrape off the foam residue. [links]
If you’re dealing with stubborn mats, we recommend using WD-40 to help dissolve the adhesive. Using your fingers or a plastic putty knife, gently lift the edges of each matt so that the adhesive is exposed. Once slightly lifted, spray the WD-40 onto the sticky side of the mat and slide the putty knife underneath to begin lifting the mat from the surface of the ski. Continue to do this, sliding and spraying at the same time until the mat is completely lifted. here
It may not be the most pleasant of tasks, but the finished product is definitely worth it. Here is a step-by-step guide to the approach that we found to work best!
Removing the old mat is usually the hardest task. It will be more challenging if the PWC comes with the older type of rubber compared to the newer EVA foam. First make sure you are working in a well ventilated area so as to minimise the effects of inhaling dust and the fumes from the chemical adhesive removal. Put on the gloves and start pouring a little adhesive remover on the edges. Give it some time for it to start acting. Take the putty knife or plastic scraper and start lifting the edges. Don't worry too much about scratching the surface. Proceed gradually and try to remove as much foam or rubber as possible.
There are different types of mats in the market. It's up to you to find the most suitable type. You may go for a bare mat that requires application of adhesive or the peel-and-stick type that comes with adhesive already applied on its surface. here
After the removal of the traction mat, you will notice the watercraft surface will not be pleasing to the eye. Well, don't worry as this is part of the whole process. Use the masking tape and newspapers to cover the sides and edges. This protects the craft from abrasion or accidental scratches. Take the 80grit sandpaper and start sanding the surface. This is done to remove any material that may have been left behind. Make sure to use minimal or light pressure so as to avoid sanding-off too much fiberglass. Sanding removes the old adehsive and also creates a rough surface. This will help the PWC mats stick to the surface better. Remove the dust and debris that forms on the surface and wash the area with acetone or adhesive remover. Make sure no particles, water, oil, or grease remains behind as this will interfere with the bonding of the new mat to the watercraft. more

I was interested in the full procedure the professional mechanics use to remove water from a sank jetski and the engine filled with water. I assume you would want the ski to restart as fast as possible so you can remove all the water before it rusts any parts.here
I was interested in answering the following: if opening the throttle 'wide open' during cranking speeds the process, or should it be closed, or alternate opening? does plugging a cylinder at a time (back-pressure) speed water removal from the engine? Use wd-40? Does tilting the ski back (one cylinder higher than the other- as a ski weighs too much to flip upside down or put on their side by yourself) speed water removal? Should you pour 1cc premix in the cylinder to aid drying and water absorbtion (from the ethanol in gasoline). any procedure to 'lube' engine while removing water? how long should you run ski and how (Wide open throttle on lake?) to evaporate all the water from the engine after it starts? Any precautions after running ski- like fog the motor etc. Thanks for your help!

My rubber floor mats are peeling off. Instead of having them flap around while riding I carefully peeled them completely off.
My question, what do you use to take that double sided sticky thing off the hull? So far I've made a mess of it and could use ideas thanks alot! [links]
Semi related; I had this happen too. The mat looked like it separated from a thin double sided sticky whatever you want to call it that originallly attached the mat to the hull.[links]
