Surprisingly, a lot of people use it for their engines. I tried doing it, and it worked perfectly! I don’t only use it for my lawnmower, but I also use it for a leaf blower, pressure washer, and chainsaw. Trust me, it still works perfectly fine. However, I do want to advise you that it would be better if you’re going to mix it with new gas as well. here

The reason why this happens is because gasoline has intricate characteristics. One of which is volatility. This means gas is quite sensitive of vaporizing. Because of this, it results to vaporizing unnecessarily when it’s not being used. That’s why whatever is left of its volatility and capability to combust appropriately will reduce. more

And as an added bonus, it’s ideal for preventing small engine breakdowns. It’s able to repair your lawnmowers, chainsaws, and weed trimmers while stabilizing gas. I do want to warn you that this doesn’t run so smoothly if it’s directly applied to old gas – it must be mixed together with a new, fresh one. When you do this, it’s able to keep it fresh for about a year and 3 months.

When my family and I moved to a different house, I noticed the nice couple we bought the house from, left a lot of things in their garage. At first, we thought they forgot to bring them along with them as they were in a hurry.

Repurpose
Some old fuel can be mixed with fresh fuel and used in other applications such as gas-powered lawn equipment and oil/gas heaters. here

Remove
Before deciding to remove bad fuel, look at your fuel gauge and compare it to the capacity of the tank. You need to be able to transfer that amount of bad fuel to a disposal facility in containers that can safely hold and transport it. Be sure to use containers you don’t need back, because a facility will not return them. If you find cheap used containers, fill them with water first and make sure they don’t leak before transferring fuel to them. more

Also, look for points of entry for water, the most common of which are the deck fill plate and the tank air vent. Make sure that both are secured flush against the hull and that all hoses and fittings are secured.

Fuel is considered bad when it ages, oxidizes or has been contaminated with water, and once it’s bad it doesn’t vaporize and burn properly. This inefficiency can cause problems ranging from hard starting to engine knock to poor performance. It can also cause damage to the engine and fuel system.

Researching the condition of your fuel, removing bad fuel and repurposing it are the ways to properly address a bad fuel issue. Let’s call it the three Rs.

STA-BIL products such as STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer help keep your gas tank clean for long-term fuel storage. Also, you can use this stabilizer in motorcycles and vehicles in addition to boats, so it helps across the board. It works to keep your gas fresh for as long as two years, and research shows that it’s the best at its job, outperforming competitors. If you’ve always had problems with your boat experiencing varnish and gum buildup, STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer prevents this as well. Do be sure to use it as directed. more

Use only feed fuel hoses that read type A-1. You can use A-2 for vent and fill hoses. Choose flexible hoses and remember that the supply line should not be metal because it is susceptible to cracking. There should also not be any kinks or dips in the hose because that is one way hoses get cracked and susceptible to contamination. [links]

However, there’s a difference between being proactive about keeping the tank clean and having to attend to it only once every few years compared with having to clean it several times a year or once a year. That much cleaning absolutely should not be necessary. Let’s take a look at how you can stay ahead of the curve. more

A dirty fuel tank tends to throw lots of problems your way, including engines that sputter when you try to start them and carburetors that get clogged. What used to be a smooth and enjoyable boat ride can turn into an experience you don’t want to repeat. In the end, you might lose lots of pricey gas and free time trying to troubleshoot the fuel tank problems. Yes, you probably should clean your boat’s fuel tank (or hire the job out).

Fast forward 1 week, tuesday. i add 6 more gallons of fresh gas and go to the lake. nothing. no single cylinder fire. I treat it like fuel starved and pump it several times. Nothing. I treat it like it's flooded, nothing. I now have a pool of fuel again in my intake. more

So I tackle this job again this weekend friday. Spark: I've got blue spark on all 8 plugs. I spray a shot of starter fluid in the intake and get a fire or 2 then nothing. I crank until again i have a pool of fuel in intake. I think now I have a float that's not working. i take the carb apart and set the float to 33mm per the manual. I check to see if the needle/seat are functioning and they appear to do the job. The fuel inside the bowl shows no signs of water but i can't say it's an overwhelming gas stench. I put it back together. I dry the intake thoroughly using a paper towel to absorb then a leaf blower to finish up to make bone dry. I reinstall carb, put a shot of ether, i get one or 2 fires then nothing. I do this same procedure 2 more times checking the carb for anything suspicious and still nothing other than a single hit after a shot of ether. [links]

95 7.4L wellcraft.4 barrel Webber. 2 weeks ago I pulled her out to get it ready for the season. I had put stabil inb the gas before the parking her. I did not fill the tank to the top, just added stabil.. Upon trying to crank her, i ran the battery down without any hint of firing. I opened the throttle to look down the carb and see a pool of fuel sitting in the intake manifold. I suspected bad gas, so I opened the throttle WFO, towed the boat to the pump and added 10 gallons of fresh fuel, let the battery charge 4 hrs, put the muffs back on and within 5-10 cranks she started and I let her run for 15 minutes or so. more

I'm stumped. My only other thought is bad gas settling to the bottom and that's all I'm getting to the carb.
