The reason is that it’s always wise to store your Sea-Doo with fresh oil for the off-season. Used oil in the engine contains some contamination and water (yes, really – due to absorption), which can cause rusting and other damage in the internal parts of the engine. more

But be aware that depending on your Sea-Doo’s type and engine hours, additional maintenance like supercharger rebuilding may be required!

Winterizing a Sea-Doo could be much more costly if you get it done by a professional, so be prepared to pay around $150-$300 without the oil change!

This means even if you don’t live in the northern climates, you still have to prepare your Sea-Doo for the off-season!

Many negative implications can result from improper storage: gummed-up fuel systems, prematurely failed batteries, rusted precious internal metals to actual broken engine cases, and other areas with cooling jackets. Going through the proper motions is key to keeping your watercraft at peak performance. If you are in an area that reaches the water freezing range, complete winterization is a must.
To further ensure your fuel system will deliver fuel to the engine properly, check fuel hoses for leaks and loose or damaged hose clamps. If you smell fuel or worse yet see fuel in the bilge you will need to trace the source of the leak using your hands and/or fingers and replace worn or cracked fuel lines, clamps, or gaskets. Ensure you inspect your fuel cap and rubber gasket for cracks or leaks. here
Your watercraft battery should be removed from your watercraft to ensure no draw of any kind is made on the battery during months of non-use. To keep your battery fresh and healthy we suggest a Yuasa Smart Shot Automatic Battery Charger be attached to the battery to maintain a full charge. Ensure the battery is place on a secure surface in an open-air location away from any flammable substances. If the battery is not showing a full charge after a day or two on the charger, ensure all connections are solid and if the battery still does not charge, it is time to replace the battery with a new Yuasa battery. Please see your local dealer about purchasing a new Yuasa battery for your Sea-Doo watercraft. more

Your next step in this Jet Ski winterization process is to spray the carburetor and spark plug cylinders with a fogging oil. You will need to remove the air filter from your Jet Ski in order to access these parts. Once the filter is removed, turn on the engine and spray the spark plug cylinders and carburetor while the engine is idling. You should continue to spray until the engine stalls and replace your air filter once you’re done. here

To drain all the water, we recommend running the engine in 30-second intervals while tilting your Jet Ski’s handle back. After all the water is out of the system, we suggest flushing the cooling system to ensure all dirt, algae and grime is removed from the vessel. Again, you should follow the instructions in your owner’s manual to ensure you flush your system thoroughly as part of your regular Jet Ski winterizing process.

When this is complete, make sure your spark plug wires are grounded and then remove the spark plugs. Spray fogging oil into each hole for a couple of seconds. We suggest placing a rag over the holes and turning the PWC on. This will allow the oil to coat the internals of the vessel. It is normal if your engine does not start. Once this is done, clean the mess you might have made and reinstall the spark plugs. here

Leaving your Jet Ski battery in over the winter can reduce its charge. As part of your regular Jet Ski winterizing process, you should take the battery out of your PWC by removing the negative connection first, followed by the positive connection. [links]

Another important step in winterizing a Jet Ski is to fill the gas tank up to the top with a stabilizer to keep it clean. Make sure to read the directions on the stabilizer bottle before adding it into your fuel tank. You should run the engine in 30-second intervals to ensure the stabilizer is well mixed in the fuel. After stabilizing your fuel, you should lubricate all seals and cabling using a lubricant and protectant recommended by the PWC manufacturer. here
