well thakyou to everyone that helped me i have just finished winterizing my first boat and it feels great.Thankyou to everyone that replied i cant thank you enough. I just Want again to say thankyou to everyone again and have a great christmas and a happy newyear to alll.
I take it your VRO is disconected, if your mixing your fuel/oil. On new or rebuilds, its generally recomeded 25:1 for about 25 to 50 hrs, before going to 50:1. But yes, you can run it all together. I will mix the stable in my fuel the last time I take the boat out for the year, that way I know its gotten into the carbs. My 4hp kicker ran for five minutes before it ran out of fuel, after I turned the valve off, just from gas in the float bowl. I also, and most people will not recomend running a OB out of fuel, I did it at idel, and as soon as it sputtered, I turned it off. here
Re: How do i winterize a 1985 JOHNSON 60hp vro motor? MODEL# J60ELCOD
Thanks chris since it's a new motor I've been running the oil mixture 50 2 1 is that okay if I leave the oil , fuel, stable, mix all together and run it fo the 10 minutes?
When fogging the motor through the carbs do i leave the motor in neutral or where should the throttle be? And do i spray fogging oil till the motor boggs out!! [links]

Any TC-W3 2 cycle oil would be fine.
Thanks for the info, on the mixture, I forgot to ask what type of oil. Im hoping to use this boat a few more times before winter sets in (I'm in Anchorage Alaska) I'm looking at taking it out in Whittier while the silvers are still running.
Re: 1971 60 HP Evinrude fuel mixture question
Sorry for the confusion. I was told to keep the engine "up" like it is in the water. Is this correct? It rained all day here in Anchorage, so I did not take the boat out on the water. Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow. [links]
Start the engine and allow it to idle for at least 10 minutes. here
Turn the battery switch on your boat to the "off" position. If you do not have a battery switch, simply remove the negative cable from the battery with a wrench. The black cable is the negative cable.
Open the engine compartment lid. Locate the spark arrester, which is mounted on the carburetor. It is a round air filter that is held to the carburetor by a nut. Remove this nut with a wrench, and remove the spark arrester from the carburetor. more
Your 60-HP Mercury engine needs special care before winter storage. The engine uses lake water to cool it when it is running. The water remaining in the engine must be removed to avoid corrosion and damage to the engine block. The supplies and tools to winterize your engine may be purchased at any boat shop. You will need access to a water source in order to do the winterizing. The process will take about an hour.
Loosen and remove the boat's drain plug, using a wrench. The plug is at the back of the boat, near the bottom. This will allow the water you will drain from the engine to drain out of the bottom of the boat.
