Melinda Gates bought a $1.2 million cottage in Seattle's North Broadway neighborhood three weeks before she and Bill Gates filed for divorce.
The Gates announced they were divorcing on Monday after 27 years of marriage.
She bought the four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in early April, according to a deed obtained by Insider.
"After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage," they said in a statement. "Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives."

I personally think this spot is the best of all parts of the billionaire’s home. This area hidden in the corner offers views from the top floor of the house. In this place, a traditional covered patio opens to a blue-infinity pool lighted up by blue lights and providing extremely beautiful views of Lake Washington and Seattle. The alluring stunning seating and the way the blue lighting changes smoothly and continuously with no apparent space into the horizon perfects the setting. The 60-foot heated swimming pool has an underwater music system.
Gates preferred to keep his romantic options open while he was dating Melinda, and he struggled to commit to her.
