As you breathe air in through your nose or mouth, it goes past the epiglottis and into the trachea. It continues down the trachea through your vocal cords in the larynx until it reaches the bronchi. From the bronchi, air passes into each lung. The air then follows narrower and narrower bronchioles until it reaches the alveoli. more
Within each air sac, the oxygen concentration is high, so oxygen passes or diffuses across the alveolar membrane into the pulmonary capillary. At the beginning of the pulmonary capillary, the hemoglobin in the red blood cells has carbon dioxide bound to it and very little oxygen (see illustration above). The oxygen binds to hemoglobin and the carbon dioxide is released. Carbon dioxide is also released from sodium bicarbonate dissolved in the blood of the pulmonary capillary. The concentration of carbon dioxide is high in the pulmonary capillary, so carbon dioxide leaves the blood and passes across the alveolar membrane into the air sac. This exchange of gases occurs rapidly (fractions of a second). The carbon dioxide then leaves the alveolus when you exhale and the oxygen-enriched blood returns to the heart. Thus, the purpose of breathing is to keep the oxygen concentration high and the carbon dioxide concentration low in the alveoli so this gas exchange can occur! more
In early August, a U.S. judge ruled that NCLH-owned cruise lines can require passengers to show proof of vaccination status before boarding their ships in Florida — a blow to Governor Ron DeSantis’ much-hyped but unpopular law banning so-called vaccine passports. In her ruling, the judge agreed that the Florida law jeopardizes public health and is an unconstitutional infringement on Norwegian’s rights.

Four out of five states are in the "red zone" on the Brown School of Public Health's risk-assessment map.
Germany: The United States is currently classified as a “high risk” area for Covid-19. Travelers who have been in the U.S. within 10 days of entering the Germany must be fully vaccinated or able to demonstrate why travel is essential. Travelers who can prove they were previously infected with Covid through a positive PCR test taken between 28 days and six months before arrival, and who show no relevant symptoms, are considered to be fully recovered. Travelers must fill out their information on a digital registry and carry the confirmation when entering the Germany. (More: German Embassy) more
The Maldives: There is no mandatory quarantine but pre-arrival testing within 96 hours of departure for the Maldives is required for all travelers, regardless of vaccination status. (More: Maldives Tourism) [links]
Argentina: The Argentinian government has a travel ban in place. Travelers who are not a resident in Argentina, including U.S. citizens, are not permitted to enter the country. (More: U.S. Embassy) here
The TSA limits liquids, aerosols and gels to bottles containing no more than 3.4 ounces, or 100 milliliters. These must be placed in a clear, zip-top bag made of clear plastic; remove the bag from your carry-on and place it on a tray while going through security. "Reasonable" amounts of medication, baby formula and breast milk are allowed and don't need to be stored in the plastic bag. For more information, consult the TSA website (tsa.gov).
The easiest way to avoid baggage fees is to become an elite member of an airline's frequent flier program; entry-level status is usually based on flying at least 25,000 miles per year, or a specified number of flight segments. This will enable you to streamline your carry-on luggage and have a more enjoyable experience on board. When calculating your carry-on allowance, remember that certain items don't count, including duty-free purchases, food acquired after passing through security, strollers or wheelchairs.
Airline passengers face restrictions on the contents, size and amount of their carry-on luggage. The Transportation Security Administration has strict rules regarding items that may be taken on board an airplane. In addition, most airlines limit the number and type of carry-on bags. Familiarize yourself with the regulations ahead of time, and avoid creating delays for yourself and others.
Many domestic carriers now charge fees for checked baggage. The number and size of carry-on bags has increased as passengers seek to avoid additional charges. Since carry-on luggage must be placed either in the overhead bins or under the seat in front of you, competition for storage space can be fierce. If you board the plane last, your bag may be checked on board and delivered to you as you leave the plane; in that case, the good news is that you won't incur an additional fee.
