These are low hour Mint Condition Johnson 55 hp Commercial Grade 20" Shaft tiller model outboard motors with a 2nd Generation Pump Jet. Being commercial grade, these engines are built heavy duty with larger gears in the lower unit. These 55 hp pump jet come with an alternator (Battery Charging System 18 amps) which is ideal to keep your lights running and your boat batteries charged. The Pump Jet was commissioned by the U.S. Military to provide safety for marines when they were in the water. This pump jet lower unit provides many features that are attractive to boaters including safety, performance, power, and durability. AFA Marine has boat tested these motors and we were very impressed. We noticed exceptional acceleration, great turning ability, smooth trolling, and perfect transition while going in forward neutral and reverse. We also tested this unit while it was in the shallow drive mode and we were very satisfied. This engine provides safety as the jet propulsion is completely guarded.
