My fix, was a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Some are adjustable. You can hook up a voltmeter to the sensor wire and get a baseline. Then turn the sensor slightly (you may need a chainsaw file to open the grove in the plastic tabs) Then retest and see if the volts change. I just bought a new TPS for $80.

Wish I had seen this thread. Could have saved you a bunch of grief. All you would have had to do is remove the wire from each of these switches to see if it helped your problem. here

He said there are 3 temperature sensors. The one for the ECM was going bad and putting it in limp mode but not throwing a code so the computer didn't know how to handle the issue. more

There are numerous components that work together to make your boat engine run smoothly. Marine fuel pumps are necessary for engine operation. Engines require gas to run, and fuel pumps supply that gas under pressure to ensure both smooth running and efficient engine operation. Boat fuel pumps convey the fuel from the gas tank directly to the individual cylinders. This operation must be performed under high pressure to ensure good combustion. Should your marine technician advise that you’ll need a new fuel pump, Wholesale Marine carries the best marine fuel pumps from the leading manufacturers including: Chris Craft, Chrysler, Crusader, Evinrude, Force Outboards, Johnson, MerCruiser, Mercury, OMC, PleasureCraft, Volvo Penta, and Yamaha.

While Wholesale Marine does not expect most boat owners would repair their boat engines themselves, it helps to know what to look for to troubleshoot possible fuel pump problems, to avoid costly repairs. Here are some tips to follow: When a boat engine is not performing well, or will not start, most marine technicians will perform a compression test. If the engine is found to have good compression, then the spark plugs are checked next. No spark, possibly a tune up is in order. Wholesale Marine has tune up kits from Sierra , Mercury , MerCruiser , and CDI that make the job go quickly. more

If the spark plugs are not the culprit, it’s time to inspect the fuel system. Your technician will start at the fuel tank and work toward the engine, checking the screen, anti-siphon valve, and the separating filter. If all looks well, the carburetor filters may be due for a cleaning. The good news about marine fuel pumps , is that they are rarely the culprit when there are engine problems. So rebuilding or replacing the fuel pump is usually a last resort.
