Originally after the engine would cut off I could get it to start again, but there came a point when it wouldn't start. I ended up replacing the ignition coil, and immediately the car fired up again and was running. However, the check engine light was now on and the engine had far less power and was running very rough. Nevertheless, the car was still working and would no longer cut off. Thus, I took the car to Precision Auto Tune to get a diagnostic test done, and they told me the distributor was bad. here

We have had the TDI for exactly a year now, and have 33 000 km's on it already. In the past 2 months, we've noticed the engine cutting off for a second while driving. It can do this a few times during one drive and it does it at any time, not related to the temperature of the engine; it has done it wether it's cold or warmed up. more

The idle will also surge, but it's a small surge, from like 750 rpm to 1,000 and then back to 750. Last night after driving, it dropped to around 500rpm for s second and I thought it was going to stall, but it didn't.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.0 in line 6 Cyl misfires when driving. I bought this about 2 months ago (200,000 miles), and when i first got it it was acting like it was misfiring when driving above 60 mph( did get codes P0301 cyl 1 misfire, and P1391 CPS) . it started to act the same way just driving in my small town. so i ended up changing the ignition coil pack and changing spark plugs, i also replaced the CPS (camshaft position sensor). and was still acting the same way. I located a TSB that said there might be a carbon build up problem preventing valves from rotating and seating.

My 04 v8 decided to stall and cut off while driving today. Doesn't appear to be an electrical issue, and no dash light lights up. [links]

My 2001 toyota camry is great but has an intermittent, annoying problem no one can diagnose or correct. If I drive for a while at top highway speed (say 65mph) and then have to come to a stop (to pay toll or stop light) I get a very rough idle and then the car stalls. Have had new plugs, wires, coil, radiator already done to solve problem. Check engine light never comes on. Can also drive lengthy trip and it doesn't happen.

I've been driving manual transmission vehicles - from my '72 Pinto to big trucks - for 40 years. This happened recently in a VW Golf I had rented: While driving down a mountain in a tunnel in Norway, with the clutch depressed, there was a loud POP noise. The clutch became engaged, and the clutch pedal did nothing. I'll spare you the details of the harrowing aftermath, the language barrier issues in the sticks of Norway and such. In the end, the rental company is charging us a couple thousand bucks for breaking their car. I maintain it was not Driver Error. My local VM service manager indicated that the Slave Cylinder on the Golf has been a problem for years, and is probably what went bad, but - as a rep of VW - is not willing (allowed) to put that in writing. The garage that fixed the Golf indicated it was Driver Error. I'm guessing everything tranny-wise got beat up when the Slave gave out, making it look like I'm a bonafide Clutch Masher. here

Ntices a strange idling noise? At first i thought it was just something like the radiator fan but it's tied to the clutch pedal..when the clutch is depressed the noise gets more isolated and a little louder. Everyone else in my car doesn't notice it but to me it sounds like something is out of balance. car only has 6500 miles on it and has never been driven hard. 2010 Golf 2.5 5spd . [links]

One of the signs of being bad is oil inside that 2 wire plug just pull it off and look in it. Now to remove it you will have to take the power steering pump loose so it will move back out of the way so you can pull the solenoid out of the engine if ya get it out look on the end there are grooves running around it with little screens on them see if any are gone or coming apart, this usually sets a P0016 code which is stuff interfering with the sensors inside. If there is any oil in the plug or any screens missing then it will have to be replaced. here

My car started a rough idle last night. Pull to stop light, in gear, a/c on #1 and car shudders and acts like it's going to stall. Went away as I drove a round a bit. back this a.m. (after the warm up program ran) drove it a bit and was sporadic. and even went away. then came back. [links]

the other thing that came to mind that could of caused the problem is that a few days before the problem started. I jump started a co-workers car and he hooked the cables up backwards on his car. Could this be the cause of the problems I'm having. [links]

Stevenson alleges that when he bought his 2008 Mazda CX7 from a New Jersey dealership in 2009, a Mazda representative concealed facts about the defect. Stevenson says that although the defect is covered under Mazda’s warranty, the automaker refuses to repair it. The company denies it knew of of the defect at the time of sale. Consumer complaints were filed with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. Mazda contended a technical service bulletin the company issued in 2007 did not apply to Stevenson’s vehicle and the first time such a bulletin showed potential defects in his specific car was published in 2012, two and a half years after he bought the car. Also, all warranty claims should be dismissed because Stevenson’s car problems first arose 3,500 miles after its warranty's mileage limit was reached, Mazda said. Stevenson's suit was filed less than two months after a similar putative class action over the alleged defect was dismissed in California. On July 3, a judge tossed the suit without prejudice but gave the lead plaintiff time to file an amended complaint, saying the plaintiff hadn't specified when she purchased the vehicle for warranty purposes but that there is a basis for declaratory relief.
