Re: Mercruiser 2 beeps/minute alarm diagnosis Sherlock
Stalling and rough idle/uneven idle RPM's are symptoms which can be caused by a defective IAC valve. IAC problems will generate the 2 beeps per minute alarm. here

The only other thing that I know beeps is the built in alarm on the depth finder, which was off the entire time.I have 2 batteries on-board and have not had any issues starting it.
Just re read your issue and noted the 120* temp. I believe these boats like to run aroun 170-175. There may be something to that, I dont know. here
How many hours do you think you have on that distributor? more
Disconnect the boat’s battery from the boat wiring if the boat runs with one, using a crescent wrench to remove power wires from the battery terminals. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the tachometer from the dashboard it is attached to. Gently pull the instrument forward by hand and outward from the dashboard. Carefully pull its wiring out by hand from behind so that the wires are exposed as well. here
Turn the tachometer over gently so that the backside is exposed. Check that the back of the tachometer has a switch set to 12 (standard on all 12-volt tachometers), matching the boat’s 12 pole system. Check your boat wiring manual to confirm your voltage if your not sure what it is.
Examine each wire attached to the tachometer and record its color. Look for any fraying, broken wires or exposed insulation. Patch up any minor damage by cleaning the area and wrapping electrical black tape over exposed wires completely. here
what octane fuel are you using?
You can make a code reader with a resister LED (radio shack) and a paper clip here
Please help, I don't want to mess up this 7.4 mag with only 60 hrs on.
Engine codes where checked by certified mercruiser mechanics. They replaced the water temp sensor on the thermostat housing but it still did not solve the problem. Any advice to go from here? Thanks.
I got tired to troubleshooting my MPI engines 'in the dark' and got the Rinda engine diagnostic software. I would go around the engine and check the connectors to each of the sensors. Release the tab and then re-connect each one. here
You know the ECT is OK, since it was replaced with no difference. You have the MAP and the IAT sensors on the plenum, and the IAC and the TPS under the throttle body. [links]
My sea ray engine temp a solid160*. Oil pressure is rock steady 50 psi. Lube oil bottle seems ok. At 1400 rpm I can drive around all day but as soon as I go over 3000 rpm, I get the same double beep alarm, the revs are not limited but the alarm sounds the double beep until I turn the key off ?
