I'm not sure of the thrust but I think most of the older Mercurys were anywhere from 24-36 pound thrust.<br />Not much considering what guys are using today.<br />I guess that would hold your boat in a calm breeze but that would be about it.<br />If your boat is decent I would buy a good trolling motor. The N.Cal section gets alot of posts unlike the S.cal. If you can't find a good used trolling motor on the S.Cal classified section buy one from the N.Cal section and have it shipped (Fedex is cheapest probably around $20). I see trolling motors all the time.<br />Also make sure the shaft is the correct length for you boat.<br />You can pose your troling motor question on the N.Cal forum page and will probably get an answer because there is alot of old time bass fisherman that used to run those trolling motors.
