When choosing a float switch to control the operation of a pump, the first question that needs to be answered is about amperage. Since the power for the submersible pump will be flowing through the float switch it will need to be able to at minimum handle that amperage. Our most popular floats come in the following levels: 13 amps, 15 amps, and 25 amps.
Pump switches without a piggy-back plug must be hard wired, and this gets a little more complicated. Floats are all two wire so to install on a pump you must splice the float switch in the “HOT” line coming from the power source. This splice should be done in a control panel or waterproof junction box to ensure that the connection does not get wet and cause a short. [links]
If you purchase a float switch with a piggy-back plug the installation is very simple. The plug on the float switch will plug-in to a power outlet, and then the pump will plug into the piggy-back outlet on the back of the float. That is all there to it, your pump will only come on when the float is in position to allow it.
It is important that we test the boat ignition switch so that we can avoid any trouble ahead. It is part of safety measures among sailors. Ignition switch is also very important to a boat because it is its driving force to get started. Therefore, it is conventional that you test your boat’s ignition switch. Read the manual of your boat particularly in boat ignition switch because it may differ from one boat to another. Next, check your boat engine for any leaks. It may cause explosion when you try to start using the switch. Check the wiring of the boat, especially the one connected to the switch, as it may cause short circuit problems. Check the condition of your battery before the test because most problems occur in the batteries. Start at the battery and follow the wires that lead to the engine. Check the connection and the starter solenoid which connects your battery from the switch. [links]
Next, you are ready to make things spark. Slightly turn the key using the boat’s ignition switch to start the engine. Listen carefully if there is any unusual sound. If there is, stop the test. You may have an engine problem. Finally, if you are successful in switching on the engine, let the engine run long enough to heat your engine. Then switch off the engine and wait for a couple of minutes. Do step 2 again until you are satisfied in testing your ignition switch.
The fuel pump switch is an electrical component, and just the same as the rest on the vehicle, over time it can wear out and develop issues. As the switch has the capacity to shut off the fuel pump, issues with it can potentially lead to drivability and performance issues for the vehicle. One of the first symptoms of a potential issue with the fuel pump shut off switch is an engine that suddenly stalls while driving. If the fuel pump shut off switch malfunctions while the engine is operating it may shut off the fuel pump and cause the engine to stall. The fuel pump may be reactivated by finding and pressing the reset button for the switch. more
The fuel pump shut off switch is an electrical switch that is found on certain vehicles equipped with internal combustion engines. Commonly referred to as the inertia switch, the fuel pump shut off switch is designed to shut off the fuel pump when it is detected that the vehicle has come to an unusually sudden, or forceful stop.
Another symptom of a problematic fuel pump shut off switch is a switch that trips for no apparent reason. A good switch will shut of the fuel pump when it detects that the vehicle has come to a sudden or violent stop, a faulty switch, however, may trip and shut off the fuel pump for no apparent reason, even when the vehicle is experiencing normal driving conditions.
