I have a Minn Kota 55PD. The first time I went to use it this year it wouldn't work. It will still turn (change direction) but the prop itself won't go. I can hear a clicking noise in the upper unit so I'm pretty sure the foot control is working. Wondering if the motor itself is toast? more

The armature and or brushes are not terribly hard to service, you just have to be careful to get everything back where it belongs. here

It's been a while since I was in one of those, but they have a relay board that craps out, it's in the base and not hard to change or extremely expensive. [links]

Check out this video for a step-by-step guide for how to clean your prop.

If not, the wire that delivers battery power to the props may have simply come loose. Open up the motor head and control box and check the connections. more

Parts inside the motor head or control box may shake loose with repeated uses. If you suspect a loose connection, open up the motor head and check all the internal components. Be sure not to disconnect anything while performing your inspection. here

If you find any loose parts, either in the motor head or the control box, simply reconnect the wires in the appropriate spots. If you’re not sure where they should be connected, consult your owner’s manual.

Turn off the trolling motor and fold it up into the boat. Chances are, something like seaweed or fishing line has simply gotten tangled up in the props.

I have had a MK Riptide Ulterra since Nov 2015 and it has worked flawlessly until this morning. Deployed it as usual, but when we tried to stow it with remote, it would trim up partially then spin clockwise and wrap the cord, until we cut the power to the unit from the perko switch or hit the stow/deploy button on the remote. We tried the reset procedure described in the manual and it did the same thing, until we cut the power. We tried using the power button at the base to initiate the stow procedure and it would do the same thing but we could abort by pushing the stow button and not have to cut the power. We even tried spinning it counter -clockwise and moving the cord over the head to give a chance for more clockwise revolutions, but no success. The trolling motor would otherwise work well, we just could not get it to stow. The last option was to pull the side plate, which we did not do as that is a guaranteed trip to the factory or authorized service center. I have a quick release mount so we were able to pull the TM off when it was almost at the bow stop on the trailer. Unfortunately, this is a holiday weekend and MK will be closed until Wednesday. Anybody else having/had this problem and have a solution. I could not find this problem anywhere on-line. I posted this on HT as well

I have a Minn Kota Riptide 3x 55lb BH trolling motor on the front of my boat. I either broke the shear pin or my prop on my last trip out, but I cant get the prop off to tell which it is. There is a large piece of metal that appears to be a sacrificial anode with a nut in the center, and the nut is connected to what appears to be the prop shaft. The prop shaft has a slot in it to allow a flathead screwdriver to be inserted into it.

So you give me a link to a post telling me to do what i already tried, instead of answering the question of whether there is a better way. i.e. a trick. more

It's been a while since I took a prop off a troller, but I'm almost positive the nut is actually part of the anode, and not two separate parts. Anyway, it does sound like the shear pin is broken. maybe the prop hit something underwater? here
