With regard to the general layout of the 160 Super Sport, there is little to complain about - and lots to like. The bow casting deck is great for anglers as you can stand and fish from this sturdy front platform. here
As well as the bucket seats and cushions our test boat gained a transom ski bar arch and tow point, stainless steel bow rail, white rub rail with S/S insert, 70-litre fuel tank, rear hull accent colour, curved, tinted windshield, dash applique/accent, sports steering wheel, and two rod holders affixed to the internal grab rails. more
For the amidships bench helm seat, the 160 Super Sport can be optioned with two padded seat squabs (to each side of two included cup holders), or with a full width padded bench seat cushion with fixed backrests for the skipper and co-pilot.
In calm weather I'd also be tempted to fish from one of the elevated rear boarding steps. They are wide enough, and have a non-slip finish which grips up the fibreglass finish quite well. Better yet, consider fitting the rear steps with the optional teak-look foam rubber matting. here
Incidentally, there is no sub-floor fuel tank option for the same reason. Instead, the Boston Whaler 160 Super Sport comes standard with a pair of 25- litre fuel tanks that sit beneath the bench seat thwart. You can also swap these two tanks out for a single (optional) 70-litre red portable fuel tank, as was fitted to our test boat. here
The test boat also had an optional bow cushion that measures 4’4” (1.32 m) by 2’6” (0.76 m). The non-skid foredeck is raised 14” (36 cm). A large anchor locker is cut into the center of the deck. The hatch is finished on the underside and includes a channel for the rode. [links]
With more people aboard, all small boats become weight-sensitive, so moving weight forward balances the load, including on the 130 Super Sport. more
Other colors can be ordered for either the hull sides or the hull side and bottom. The colors available are Classic Desert Tan, Glacier Green, Light Blue, and Light Gray. All the colors are light so they won’t show salt and will age gracefully.
She measures in at 14’0” (4.27 m) long (including the swim platforms), has a 5’10” (1.78 m) beam, and her hull draws 9” (0.23 m). With a dry weight of 695 lbs. (315 kg), two people, 6.5 gallons (24.6 L) of fuel, the 40-horsepower Mercury engine, and test equipment on board, we had an estimated test weight of 1,381 lbs. (626 kg).
The throttle and shifting lever is mounted on the starboard gunwale with the ignition key behind. Just below the controls, the white navigation light clips into place for storage. Forward of the console to starboard are a pair of beverage holders and the socket for that white navigation light. here
Boston Whaler also offers some attractive hull color options in addition to the standard white.
An option is to fit a 25hp Mercury engine, but we doubt this smaller motor will have enough grunt to power the boat if there are more than two adults onboard.
The Boston Whaler 130 Super Sport is not just well built, but also nicely appointed. The boat is rated to carry a maximum of four people, but there are five seats to choose from, once you include the optional ice box/cooler, and the lounge cushion for the elevated forward deck.
You also get a side console helm station with a lockable storage compartment, 12-volt power socket, two drink holders, stainless steel steering wheel and side-mounted engine throttle box.
