Then in 1999, Ron and Nanette found Ocean Reef through an invitation to exhibit a car by Bill Parfet, ORC Member. Vicki Goldstein, who had decided to include cars, wasted no time in lining up Ron for the second Vintage Weekend. here
A beloved tradition, the event brings together connoisseurs and owners of the most elegant conveyances, converging via Ocean Reef Club’s private airstrip and marina. The festivities include a costume dinner dance, beachfront reception, marina yacht viewing, road rally, and aircraft acrobatic show, all enhanced by the spectacular setting of the Club’s location within 2,500 tropical acres in the Florida Keys. more
Although the renowned club is a private member-owned community, non-member guests are invited to experience Ocean Reef Club’s unique way of life during this fabulous long weekend. Non-members can enjoy a chance to attend this event and visit the Club through a three-night, four-day package that includes a stay in the club’s oceanfront Inn. more
Recognized as one of the most prestigious classic yacht shows in the country, Vintage Weekend presents the most impressive craft from the industry elite. Elegantly restored Trumpy Yachts and sport fishing yachts from Rybovich & Sons Boat Works are frequent favorites among spectators. Last year’s winners included: The Cigarette, a 1963 25’ Formula powerboat, which was the first standard Formula to be built and raced by the legendary Donald Aronow—and also the restoration of JFK’s famed presidential yacht, the Honey Fitz.
“Vintage Weekend is a wonderful opportunity for people to not only admire the world’s finest conveyances up close, but also to share in a memorable social experience among new and old friends,” explains Vintage Weekend Co-founder Vicki Goldstein. “Ocean Reef Club is one of the few places in the world that can host all three modes of vintage transportation by land, sea, and air—and also offer flawless hospitality in a stunning setting.”

Half the fun of Vintage Weekend at Ocean Reef Club, coming up Dec. 4-7, 2014, is watching other people getting there.
Vintage yachts float up to the docks at the members-only club in the northern Keys, vintage aircraft buzz the private air strip, vintage cars gleam in a Concours d’Elegance stream on the red carpet. As spectacle, it’s a tour de force on land, at sea, in the air.
The members-only policy at the gatehouse drops for this long weekend. Everyone is welcome for Vintage Weekend through a three-night, four-day package at the club’s oceanfront inn. more
Highlights include a Vintage Aircraft Aerobatic Show & Luncheon, a must-see mix of private air show and beach picnic; a Concours d’Elegance-caliber car show (previous years included a rakish 1938 Jaguar SS100); vintage yacht tours (previous years included the lovingly restored presidential yacht, Honey Fitz); tours of aircraft (a silvery bullet P-51 Mustang was a Spectator’s Choice in previous years) and, this year, the 20th Anniversary – “Margarita Madness”

Located in Atlanta, Cherokee Town and Country Club offer membership through an invitation-only policy. The exclusive club has two world-class golf courses, 16 tennis courts, and three swimming pools. Membership is by invitation only, and prices are kept under wraps but are considered to be $200,000 with $7,500 dues. (Also voted #5 in U.S. Country Clubs)
Known for being an exclusively male club, Augusta recently opened its doors to women including former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, former banking magnate Darla Moore, and IBM CEO Ginni Rometty. With only 300 members, including Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, Augusta National is home to the Master's tournament and was designed by champion golfer Bobby Jones and Dr. Alister MacKenzie. Initiation fees range from $250,000 to $500,000. (Also voted #1 Golf Club in the U.S.)
A popular club for Wall Street tycoons, the invitation-only club is located on 285 acres of shoreline along Southampton, New York’s Peconic Bay. Developed by famed architect Charles Blair Macdonald, this course is known as one of the most perfect courses in the world. Initiation is $150,000 plus $10,000 dues, and guests can only play with members. (Also voted #13 Golf Club in the U.S.) [links]
Forget the fact that women are still not allowed in many clubs around the world and have finally been permitted to join as members when former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and IBM CEO Darla Moore became among the first females to join Augusta in 2012. Among the 300 members at Augusta National, only 1 percent are women. And you will also find it hard to spot any African-American players in many of the most elite clubs around the world, throughout history they were only used as caddies for the white men playing in tournaments. But times are changing at many of the top clubs and the new guard is enforcing a more open-minded attitude towards new diverse members, although a 10-year waiting list for new memberships at many clubs will undoubtedly slow things down dramatically.
The 2018-2019 Platinum Clubs® of the World winners represent the standard of Excellence for the finest Private Golf & Country Clubs around the globe and were voted by 700 Golf & Country Clubs.
