Last spring I pulled the center pontoon out, lowered it 2" and moved it back 18". Last year my hoist was fairly level for most of the year, this year is tips back a lot more. Taking a good lok at it the oil reserve is if not lower than the tank on the engine it is very close. What else do I know? After the mechanic cleaned up the mess and the carbs it ran pretty good, I had the hoist fairly level. Then I moved my hoist back and lowered the back to make it easier to get on and off. A few days later using the boat it smoked a little starting it up. Not a lot but a little.

One other thing, with this issue once the oil was cleaned out I have been able to use the boat, Smokes a little at start up but otherwise runs fine. Last night one of the lower cylinders was full of oil. I assume what ever is pushing the oil through the system is causing this. I just wanted to mention it in case it helps narrow down the problem. more

I don't imagine there is anyway to test this other than to just replace it? here

Later that week I filled the oil reserve. Next use of the boat and the engine is again full of oil.

Ok, so heres the deal. Clinging to the little bit of hope I have that this is anything but a major problem. This has been a great running boat since day one last year was the first sign of this issue appearing, so what changed?

Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

Running at high continuous RPMs contributes to the creation of carbon deposits in your boat’s motor, which interferes with optimal engine operation. Synthetic oil helps clean out deposits left by conventional oil and prevents new ones from forming.

Eliminate sludge build up and foam that can degrade gears. Boat engines have high rpms which puts extreme stress on the motor parts. Get a specially formulated oil for your engine. Search for your boat engine now. Order now and you will receive your oil with fast shipping.

Synthetic oil allows you to go longer between oil changes. This means less oil is deposited back into the environment – it also burns cleaner, lessening emissions. Recycling helps, but less is always more. [links]

It’s not a news-breaking headline that you need a good filter to get the best performance from an engine. Having a new filter can promote the longevity and performance peak of your engine. But why do 2-stroke motors not have an oil filter? I did some research and found out there is good reason. In a 4-stroke engine (like the one in your car), the oil is added to a reservoir and is then recirculated through the engine, lubricating the moving parts and settling back into the oil pan. It collects the “bad stuff” as it circulates, and therefore, it must be filtered before returning to the engine again.

So what makes a 2-stroke engine different? In a 2-stroke engine, the oil is consumed with the combustion process. Since it is not recirculated, no oil filter is necessary!
