I've taken the Dirigo on several trips, the longest being 11 miles. I've read the other reviews and agree with some of the comments, but not with others.
The boat tracks very straight. The defined from and rear keel help this kayak maintain a good line. The only issues is that because of the hull design, your paddling technique or lack there of gets amplified. I found that sometimes using lean turns is needed to get good turning response. more
I also own a Wilderness Systems Pungo which is a nice boat but nothing like my Dirigo. The Dirigo is a much more "solid" craft with greater speed and stability.
The boat tracks well, is super durable and easy to car top. The huge cockpit is a plus to me, as is the most comfortable, adjustable kayak seat I have ever experienced. It can carry lots of gear for trips of several days to a week. It is a little heavy, but once you get moving is a breeze to paddle at a brisk rate. I love my kayak!

I received this kayak as a gift and it is my first kayak ever. I have used it for paddling on flat water and slow moving streams. As a newbie paddler, this has been a great first boat. It is very stable and maneuvers well. The cockpit and seat are comfortable for my 6'3" frame. After years of asking my wife for a boat, she surprised me with a kayak. Super stable and tracks well. This is a great kayak for touring around lakes and rivers. Great for beginner paddlers and beyond. I've been a canoer my entire life but decided that my big 15' canoe was a bit too heavy for me to man-handle alone so I sold it and bought the 12' Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 kayak which weighs about 49 pounds (30 pounds less than my old canoe). Perfect crossover kayak. Just what I was looking for! I kayak the waters of northern Arkansas and southern Missouri, so I wanted a kayak that would do well on lakes or on Class I to III rapids. love to paddle and fish from my Kayak I love my Old Town 106 Dirigo Angler. I am right at 6′ tall so I was concerned with the cockpit room but I was pleasantly surprised at how much room I had! The only draw back comment I would make is the foot peg location. If I adjust the pegs far into the front to let my legs completely down into the hull area I can only get the ball toe area to touch the pegs. If I adjust the foot pegs back to let my legs rest against the cockpit side foam pads I also can’t get the comfortable foot position… [links]
