The kayak is quite heavy but I expected Royalex to be. I drive a 4x4 Suburban but have no trouble getting the boat on the roof after 20 years of practice with other boats. However, if I needed to carry the boat long distances I would definitely get a cart. The boat is near indestructible and should serve me well basically forever. [links]

All in all, i liked this boat, but it was too heavy, drooped under heat, and could not be used effectivley in rougher waters. So, i am purchasing a Lincoln Two Lites tandem, which is much lighter, tracks a heck of a lot better, faster, much more durable since it is made of kevlar, can be used in a variety of waters, including ocean, and is more flexible regarding storage positions.

The weight of this boat was a big issue. My friend and i are both 5'10" and around 170lbs, and pretty strong, but still had a hard time getting the boat on top of my mom's camry. The akward weight distribution of the boat caused it to want to hang off the back end of the car, which during loading, caused me to nearly break my knee on the front bumper.

There are a lot of what I like to call creature comforts: Starting with the seat - simply marvelous, nicely adjustable foot pegs, cockpit dash which has holders for all your stuff & a nice bottle holder too & a dry well which even has a way you can bring a small power source for any usb devices, paddle holder, bungies, good handles for carrying, a second larger dry well - aft of cockpit, and lots of room. I can't say enough good things about our new Old Town Loon 126 kayaks. We got ours' in cloud color. Such a great investment!

That said, we then did a lot of research. It came down to either the Wilderness Pungo 120 or the Old Town Loon 126. Well, the Old Town Loon 126 won hands down. here

I could not be happier with my Loon. I'm a heavier paddler - 5'7" and 260lb. This yak is roomy and stable. I can get into this boat from a dock or a beach, and out either way as well. It's super wide, but easy to paddle; the width does not interfere with my stroke. Upgraded materials; triple-lined (adding to stability). cool removable accessory tray. Easy to use footpegs; comfy seat, paddle holder, drain plug, carry handles, dry storage, and tons of rigging. I love this yak and am looking for another one for my partner - hard to find! more
