Re: 15 hp 4 stroke water in engine oil

It's probably normal.. All 4 strokes make oil to some extent when they get older. Some even do it from day one. Change the oil and filter often and you'll probably be fine. My 02 Nissan 18 did it. I'd check the oil frequently and change as needed. The motor ran like a bat out heck and is still running today without any problems. It wasn't uncommon for me to change the oil after 10 hours of run time. Not sure if my brother is changing it that often or not.

My 2005 honda 2hp, 2003 honda 90, and 2001 yamaha 25hp never had water in the oil with a whole season's use. The 2hp eventually started milking up the oil as the head gasket went south. Watery oil in the crankcase or gearcase is not a good thing. I don't think it's "normal"
