there should be a Quarter size disc on the engine block. post the number on it. we can tell you so you can get a manual, which is a must to keep it in good shape. just sold a 1955 15hp that ran better that the new ones.

the silver disc on the block reads : G304050. Some one told me to use a 32:1 ratio but i was not sure if that was correct. any one know where i can find a manual for a good price for this engine? thanks for the help. [links]
50:1. 160z oil to 6 gal of gas. Make sure the oil is TCW-3 rated.

if you have a pressure tank system … keep the lid shut so pressure can build up in the tank to feed fuel up to the engine… here
yes, you are correct. It’s a 1956 Johnson 15hp electric start. So it must be the E-10. Besides the helpful info you shared on what to do before trying to start the motor. What about the actual steps for starting it? Choking, throttle, push button, etc. All the outboard motors I’ve started in the past have been manual pulls. more

check or better yet replace the impeller …. change gearcase oil and check for water intrusion if you have water you will need to reseal the GC … use new nylon washers when closing it up
