If your EZGO TXT or RXV is only running with the choke on, please read the following troubleshooting steps. here
The carburetor is dirty or has a clogged filter. It could also be that the main jet is too small. To fix it, here
– Tighten the two nuts that keep the carburetor in place. Use this chance to ensure that the gaskets are not broken. here
Check all the connections to ensure that they are sealed and tight for preventing air leaks.
A golf cart that only works when the choke is started will need to be fixed eventually. Here is how to troubleshoot the choke on your golf cart:
A friend of mine recommended that I change my jets from 120 and 60 to 110 and 62.5 as he reckons it is better at high altitude (3000ft+). I have dismantled and cleaned the carb, replaced needles and seats and the new jet sizes, inspected the diaphrams, checked the accelerator pump, drained and flushed the fuel tank and filled with fresh unleaded fuel and replaced the fuel filter. I went with great enthusiasm to the lake this afternoon to do a bit of tune-up. here
I have used my boat's primer bulb to ensure the fuel line is filled with fuel before I started. I turned both the adjustment screws 1 turn out. To cut a long story short, I even started with a totally lean setting with the adjustment screws fully turned in. The problem is that the engine ONLY runs (at around 2500rpm) when the choke is FULLY open. No matter whether the carb adjustment screws are turned in fully and turned out as much as 8 turns, at about 9 turns they are out.
The moment I release the choke, even just release it by a quarter, the engine dies. It also doesn't pick up revs, the moment I touch the throttle the engine dies. here
I have a 98 ts770r and I desperately need help. I haven't used my jetski for 7 months and since we are halfway through the summer season here in South Africa I only now had the time to strip and clean the carbs. here
I have checked the spark plugs, they were replaced last season and still looks good. I really don't know what to do or where to start, could it be that the jet combination does not work ? It is strange because my friend look it up in a manual and according to him you can use those jets together. Can it be reed valves, I didn't inspect the reeds when I had the carb off ? How do you usually go about when tuning a carb from scratch ?
i put a new carb and pump still wont run unless it is chocked
Freshly overhauled engine. Now it may idle a bit but the quits, will not gain rpm unless choke is applied. Air filter, gas lines and carburetor are all new or cleaned. What else do I need to look at?
Dwight Coleman there are usually only a few possibilities if it only runs with the choke. One cause could be an air leak on the carb, head gasket, crankshaft seal. The other could be a clogged low speed and idle circuit. Since you just got the engine done I would double check the carburetor. You do want to make sure that it is set right and that it is clean. Check everything properly again and check for airleaks. [links]
