The procedure shown and adopted is open tank vent, prime fuel bulb, power on, key and kill cord into ignition, turn key and at the same time lift coldstart lever. Now to me the starter motor should engage until the engine fires but it doesn't. It engages for maybe a second or two then disengages even if the key is still held in the start position. Then all I hear is the starter motor wirring until I turn off the ignition and on again. This to me doesn't sound right and I'm sure if it stayed engaged it would fire up easily. Engineer says its fine and as it started for him and then me in his presence difficult to argue. During the service they did identify a problem with the starter and changed the 'bendix' I think he called it, a part on the starter anyway. more

Engine has just been serviced professionally started fine when I bought it. Trying it on muffs on the trailer it takes for ever to start. I took it back to engineer who serviced it in case it was me and it started on 2nd attempt! typically. But never does for me.
