When you go to pickup the speakers be sure you stop by Walmart and get three 29 series deep cycle batteries to keep your amps running for 4 hours or so. What water do you boat on. I DON'T WANT TO BE THERE. [links]

In reality it doesn't matter. Boats are horrible acoustic environments and it likely won't make a difference.

That being said, fosgate of today is not the top tier fosgate of 20 years ago. Honestly, get Polk DB651 on sale for under $50 per pair and you;ll be good to go. Our boat has 10 of those in it and they all sound good.

Thanks Guys!
I went with the Polk MM651UM (200W each) and installing a second battery is a must. All this maybe a bit more than my 2011 Tahoe Q5i needs, but then again, I always over-build. I'm in the Destin FL area. [links]

The Punch range of Rockford Fosgate speakers offers a 0.75-inch tweeter which is mountable on your dashboard, kick panels or pillars. The Rockford Fosgate tweeter has an RMS of 60 watts and its frequency response is from 4 to 22 kilohertz. When you buy a Rockford Fosgate tweeter, you also get the complete mounting hardware and grilles included, plus a built-in phase plug, to ensure off-axis sonic performance.

Rockford Fosgate amplifiers are arguably the best in car audio quality but you will be paying a little more for it compared to other major brands. Again, you choose from the affordable and easy to use Prime range of Rockford Fosgate amplifiers, the Punch amplifiers which have been leading the brand for 25 years with their compact design and the power to reproduce perfect sonic performance or the Power range of amplifiers. The Power range is just as powerful as the Punch amps but is built on a 40 percent smaller chassis. The Power amplifiers remain at the top of the Rockford Fosgate range as their smaller size allows for more efficient heat transfer and means they can be installed underneath car seats to supply them more power. more

If you are on a tight budget, you may consider buying each component speaker on a piece basis, gradually building up your Rockford Fosgate car audio system. Beware though, Rockford Fosgate tweeters, amplifiers and speakers will sound worse than your standard car stereo speakers a la carte. Instead, buy coaxial speakers which have both mid-range and tweeter capabilities and Rockford Fosgate car speakers which don’t require a more powerful amplifier to handle their increased output. here

I am so suprised and dissappointed in all of you! Have I not learned you anything? The man is looking for good, clean, solid power for a good price and not a single one of you recommended Hifonics! FOR SHAME! [links]

I know very little on car audio. What are good brands for amps. speakers and subwoofers? Is MTX or Rockford Fosgate any good? I like MTX because they have the pre-manufactured box that fit in specific vehicles, who else does this?

If youre in this price range Id refer you to my earlier post. The Alpine V Power series and Coustic are really good amps and very good prices. Alpine is more SQ and not as powerful where the Coustic is pretty stout but not quite as clean and accurate as the Alpine. more

Personally Ive never heard a Hifonics amp. Apparantly they are too good to have a dealer here in the south. Dunno why though.

Back in the day, 6×9 speakers were common on the rear deck of many cars. While you can still find them occasionally, 5×7 and 6×8 speakers in the rear doors are becoming more common in our SUV-preferring lifestyles. Speaker manufacturers have recognized this trend and are now providing great aftermarket options to make your rear audio sound better in a smaller package. [links]

Most of us aren’t on a mission to win performance audio competitions. The good news is that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a great sound from your car stereo speakers. If you are looking to dump those pitiful factory speakers or just want cabin-filling sound in a complete aftermarket stereo rig, you will want to keep an eye on these crucial car speaker concepts: more

For smaller vehicles or vehicles with limited door space, there is a good chance that you will find 6 1/2 or 6 3/4 round speakers in your existing system. These are actually pretty decent form factors with a woofer cone that can produce more bass than you would think. The options below are the best choices for factory replacements. here
