Can’t seem to find an answer to this one:
Is it OK to shake a tank to get the last bit of propane out of it?
I’m guessing it is not because it appears to increase the pressure dramatically, but what do I know?

Bluesman;
Actually Ferrellgas will install a whip if you own the tank, talk to the Tech not the office.
Have a neighbor that had one installed by Ferrellgas on a 250 tank, of course his the same neighbor that double powdered a 45 ACP load and tried to kill himself when he pulled the trigger :-(
I have learned to stay away from him when he “does stuff”. more
I have been filling cylinders for more than 25 years, tanks have changed a lot but 20 pounds has always been what I could legally put into a BBQ tank. 47.6 / 8.34 pounds per gallon is 5.7 not 5 even therefor without an O.P.D. BBQ tanks could hold close to 25 pounds. Exchange programs put less than the 20 full pounds a BBQ tank can legally hold to cover the of painting rusty tanks and revalving outdated tanks.
Has anyone looked in to converting their vehicles into propane powered? Since propane would store for 10 years it seems like a good choice for peppers, but I am by no means knowledgeable on mechanics so I’m asking the community. Thanks! more
Today I bought a 100# propane tank for my gas grill. Then, searched for a tank level guage. Then I figured those are probably calibrated for the standard 20# tanks, plus it became obvious from online reviews that a better way to go is to weigh the tank. But it’s reeeeally heavy! here

Yea im here, Maui didnt get as much rain as Oahu or Kauai, yet….
We have been getting a lot of rain though, still more on the way supposedly, we are under a flood watch again, im pretty sure we will get rain.
Those other islands got hammered, not really unexpected or unprecedented though, and IMHO most of it could have been avoided as far as loss of homes IF PEOPLE DIDNT BUILD IN FLOOD PLAINS AND DIDNT RELY ON GOVERNMENT TO FIX STUFF.
Havent seen sunny skies in about 3 weeks other than a few hours here or there, today is supposed to be more of the same. [links]
Install a larger regulator if there are no leaks, yet there is strain on the propane system. A strain on the system would be evident if the pressure shown on the manometer is lower than required. Check with the propane system's manufacturer to get an official amount of pressure required for your system, but typically a manometer should not have a reading of more than 14 inches of water or less than 11 inches. If the water fails to move up to 11 inches, then a larger regulator may be necessary and could aid appliances when working at full capacity. [links]
Shut off all appliance valves. [links]
Do not attempt to readjust your regulator if it fails to provide the required flow pressure when appliances are working at full capacity. Low flow pressure equates to a leak in the propane system, but this test does not provide information on where the leak is. If this is the case, then bring your propane system to a professional to determine the location of the leak. [links]
Relight all of the pilots of your appliances and operate all appliances using propane at full capacity. here
Open the valve of the propane tank to allow pressure to build.
Then turn on the burner you want to light.
Then open the other burners. here
Open the propane tank first.
First thing is to turn everything off meaning the tank and the burners.
For simplicity I've copied the post made by Dean below to the top of the page because most readers agree that this is the definitive answer and the place to start. Here's what Dean has to say. here
Cold weather and forgotten propane tanks just don’t mix well. In fact, the tank will stop working completely if temperatures drop too low, leaving the tank utterly useless. We’re here to help you avoid this headache. Here are some helpful tips to keep your propane tank working the way it should – even during the extreme cold.
However, the main reason we strongly discourage the use of methods such as blow torches, space heaters, and boilers is the fact that open flames are present. More to the point, the potential for sparks, flames, and explosions to occur is greatly heightened. It goes without saying that you should never put your own safety aside to thaw out a frozen propane tank. It’s just not worth the risk! here
