The frame is very weak on that unit, especially the tongue. Look how small the frame members are, most pop-up campers have larger tongue frame rails. [links]
YES YES YES - My 2021 KZ sportsmen classic 181BH has a bent tongue. Noticed it after first trip. Bent upward 2-3" from being level with the rest of the frame. Bent so much that the battery almost touches the front camper wall diamond plate when weight was on the ball or tongue jack. When weight put on the front stabilizing jacks, there is 1" of room between the battery and front wall of the camper diamond plate.
He contacted KZ and Lippert - who agreeed to repair the defect -- had a Lippert Road tech come out and reweld new tongue on -- he gave another possibility -- damage was done during Rig transport -- he said he has seen a LOT of this type of damage
I just traded that piece of junk in on a new Jayco with a big, heavy frame. The 2021 KZ sportsmen classic 181BH is a low quality piece of garbage in my opinion. Owned it for two month and could not stand the entire set-up - WEAK and cheap.

It really depends on what type boat/trailer combo you are talking about, I mean, if it is a 34' steel boat on a already overloaded trailer the 1/4" dent might be a big deal, If it is on a 16' aluminum fishing boat that weighs maybe 1000lbs or less it is probably not a big deal, If you are seriously considering buying the package go drag it down the road yourself and make sure it pulls like it should.

Tinman
Re: would you tow with slightly bent tongue on trailer? [links]
Hi, Dave.

I agree with Tinman. It depends.

It is a matter of wheel alignment. If the trailer axle is perpendicular to the direction of travel and the trailer tires are parallel to the tow vehicle tires you will have no problem.

If not, you will use up a set of tires about every 100 to 1000 miles.

Hook it up, tow it a few feet in a straight line, then measure the distance from each wheel center to the center of the rear wheel of your tow vehicle. Those distances must match, exactly.

A trailer shop can correct alignment for you if it is needed.

Good luck. [links]
