“It’s a lot of boat,” said David Rogge, owner of a Swift 30. “It’s just the perfect size for two.”
Small boats are small no longer in terms of their features, systems, performance and capabilities. And while these under-35-foot designs have been around for a while and won’t be a fit for everyone, their appeal seems to be on an upward trajectory.

She was being restored to original when I bought her and I love showing her off! I can't tell you how many great days of sailing she's given me and I've loved em all but one :) (dead calm and rain) Unfortunately I have moved too far from the area to keep her the way she deserves. I had the bottom paint done two years ago, new canvas last year, and fresh brightwork this spring so she's looking great! $16900, 2513774040 Be sure: Get a boat history report|Finance this boat|Get an insurance quote|

This auction is for a 1980 Cape Dory 27 sailboat. Alberg designed coastal cruiser. Inboard diesel engine original Yanmar YSB8 8HP. The Cape Dory 27 is a well designed and built coastal cruiser highly regarded by sailors for it's solid construction and heavy weather comfort. She features a full keel with a draft of 4 feet and an 8.5 feet beam. Previous owner purchased this boat in Panama City, Flordia 3 years ago and sailed her down the Gulf of Mexico, around the tip of Key West and back north to her present location in Jacksonville, NC. PO attests to her performance in both light and heavy weather. She is tiller steered, simply rigged and can be single-handed easily, but large enough for two to comfortly cruise with 6 feet of standing head room. There are three head sails, including a spinnaker, working jib and storm jib. Jibs are hank-on. The mainsail has been ripped and patched, but should be replaced. The hull and topsides are in good condition for a boat of this age. A good buffing and wax will restore the fiberglass to beautiful condition. DC power is provided by two good marine grade batteries. The batteries are kept charged by an installed battery charger. Running and anchor lights all work. Depth sounder works but might need calibration. Shrouds, forestay, backstay, deck stepped aluminum mast and chainplates are in good shape. The boat displaces 5,100 lb. and has an extensive list of standard equipment. Custom trailers are available. Her interior features a standing-headroom cabin with head and shower, and there’s lots of cherry wood trim for a traditional look. If it’s tradition you want, how can you beat the combination of Downeast design and family togetherness at Atlas? There is no consensus about what size, power, accommodations, or features qualify a compact trawler. Of course, compromises are required to pack a lot of punch into a small yacht, but this makes it all the more fun to examine the options as they relate to your cruising needs. Is trailerability required? Do you prefer inboard versus outboard power? What is your definition of acceptable accommodations? Is coastal cruising your goal, or do you dream of crossing an ocean? (Yes, at least one of the boats mentioned here has done just that.)
From Nova Scotia comes the Aylward 25, produced by Aylward Fibreglass in Barrington. Aylward has been building commercial and pleasure boats for more than 20 years and in 2006 was recognized as the first boatyard in Atlantic Canada to use resin infusion to mold complete hulls, resulting in lighter, stronger components. The Aylward 25 is powered by a 200hp Yanmar diesel that provides a top speed of 20 knots. Standard equipment includes many features found on full-size trawlers, such as an electric head, a hot-water heater, shorepower, and a sliding privacy door between the saloon and the V-berth cabin. Mike Gaffikin Marine is the importer and he believes that with a Chevy heart and a fast international parts delivery services, the Crusader engine will not be an orphan. He also explains that the 6lt EFI Crusader delivers similar power to the MerCruiser 6.2lt EFI engine. Access to the engine room involves moving one cushion and then flicking a switch that lift s the floor, revealing an engine room fitted out to a high standard. All hoses are double clamped and access around the engines is good. The freshwater cooling will ensure a longer engine life and the double rear mounts help control engine vibrations. This, combined with good engine room insulation, produces a quiet ride at speed. The engines drive through Aqamet shaft s and spin Neebral bronze propellers. Overall, this well built $265,000 American vessel is at the top of its class. The petrol engines may not be as efficient as a couple of diesels but they certainly deliver the power that makes this craft an absolute joy to drive. here

The weight of the boat, combined with modest V down the line, produced a craft that carved through the chop delivering a soft ride at sea, while her wide 3.45m beam made trimming the hull quite easy.
