that should be used by boats when towing to indicate that a tow is in progress.
Track
(1) The path that a vessel is taking. (2) A guide in the mast or other spar that accepts lugs to attach a sail. (3) A rail to which a sliding car is attached for easy adjustment of the position of blocks and lines.

Running Lights - Navigational lights that are required by law to be turned on when the boat, yacht or cabin cruiser is in motion between sunset and sunrise.
Slips - A place between two docks where a boat, yacht or cabin cruiser is lifted out of the water and moored in that location.

do. I turn the cockpit instruments off sometimes because they kill the view even at minimum backlight setting.

A masthead tricolour is great under sail out at sea because it doesn't shine back off the pulpit as most

Downtime is money, and when your trailer lights are giving you troubles, your trailer is not road legal. When it is sitting in the garage, you are losing time and money. Use the following general guidelines on trailer lights troubleshooting that will help you find and solve the issue and get your trailer back on the road with its lights performing exactly as expected.

The cause for only some of lighting functions working may also lie in “hot” wire issues. Use the circuit tester to see if current is going to the light fixture itself. Begin with checking the harness that goes into the fixture in question and move all the way back to the tow vehicle to find the point where the circuit breaks. You may need to clean the brass terminals using steel wool or wire brush to restore a good connection. more

Trailer light problems can be traced to any point in either the tow vehicle’s electrical system or trailer wiring, so visual inspection and testing are the first things to do. Because the most common reason for trailer lights not working properly is a bad or missing ground, check the trailer’s and truck’s ground connection first. A poor ground often becomes the culprit when only some lighting functions are working and when lights go out when you push the brake pedal. This means that using several functions at the same time creates the load that a weak ground can’t handle. Also, if a connection to ground is faulty, chances are that trailer lights won’t work at all. more

If the running lights are not working, one of the first things to check is the presence of a blown fuse. If all of the lights are connected on the same circuit and one of the fuses is blown, then the lights will not work.

Quite possibly the easiest solution to the problem of nonworking lights is the discovery of a single burned out bulb. Simply remove the lens cover for the bulb and look to see if the filament is broken. If it is broken, replace the bulb. more

Poor electrical contact is typically caused by corrosion. Corrosion occurs after water has gotten into either the trailer plug or the tow vehicle socket. This can be remedied with a good treatment from a spray can of electrical contact cleaner. This can typically be purchased at any hardware, electronics, or recreational vehicle location. more

Start, by making sure the lights that are not working are securely grounded to a clean, rust, corrosion and paint free part of the trailer frame. Then check the brown wire to see where your 12 volt power is being lost, with a circuit tester, item # 40376 if needed. here

On my boat trailer, the left side running light will not work, The left side brake light and turn signal work fine. All 3 functions work correctly on the right side. I installed a new Optronics low profile light on the left side and I still have the same problem. There is a side light at the front of the trailer that works, however there is a second side light located at the fender well that does not work. I can see nothing obvious wrong with the wiring, but most of the wiring is inside the trailer itself. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If there is not power past the splice at the first running light, inside the frame, the wire may be disconnected, so power is not feeding on through to the more rearward lights. I would try pulling the running light that is working and checking the connection that is there. If this is not the problem I would then run a new piece of wire, item # 12-1-1, through the trailer frame from the first light to the second and splice it in where the original wire was spliced in at both lights. Use the original wire to pull the new wire through the frame. this should provide power to the second light. At this time make sure the first and second light are grounded to a clean, rust, corrosion and paint free part of the trailer frame. here

It sounds as if you either have a weak ground at the first light on the left side of the trailer that is not working or you have a broken or pinched wire on the left side after the light that is working. You have effectively eliminated the vehicle and trailer connectors by observing the fact that the first running light inline on the left side of the trailer is functioning properly and that all of the other trailer lighting is working. here
