A roll pin, sometimes also referred to as a spring pin, is a small 2–3 in (5.1–7.6 cm) long piece of metal with hollow ends that’s used to join together 2 components of a machine. They’re commonly used in car engines and in firearms, for example. In most cases, it’s easy to remove a roll pin by pulling it out of its housing with your fingers or a wrench. If the pin is stuck or broken, however, you may need to resort to more aggressive methods to remove it.

To reconnect the collar, slide the drive shaft end and collar into position and insert a ¼” X ¾” bolt through the connection. Use electrician’s tape to hold the bolt in position to maintain the alignment as you reinsert the spiral pin. With a little patience you can insert the bolt and tape it in place without crawling under the tractor. [links]

(Of course if there’s a creeper installed in the tractor, there’s no room in the creeper slot to do this.) To remove the spiral pin place a light below the frame so you can see what you’re doing, and rotate the driveshaft so the end of the spiral pin is lined up with the creeper slot in the frame. more

I used to struggle with removing these pins laying on my back under the Cub Cadet. But with experience I’ve found there’s just enough room to remove the pins using a roll pin punch through the creeper slot. Any time you’re working with spiral pins or roll pins, use a roll pin punch. The little “ball” on the end of the punch will help hold the punch in alignment with the spiral or roll pin.

Now, since you can’t get your hands in position to hold the spiral pin in place while you drive it in, use electrician’s tape (electrician’s tape again. ) to hold the spiral pin in place on the end of the roll punch.

If the pin doesn’t come out easily, you may have to hold the roll pin punch with a pair of pliers or vice grips. It beats getting your fingers smashed when something slips. I always replace all the spiral pins with new pins when I reassemble the drive shaft. more

Unscrew the impeller from the engine shaft of the pump. Turn it counterclockwise, and remove. You can slightly hit the impeller with a rubber mallet, to loosen it on the shaft. Remove the nut, which holds the spring and seal assembly on the engine shaft. Take out the spring, and slide the seal assembly to take it out. Also remove the shims.

Unscrew the screws securing the volute with a wrench. Remove the volute from its adapter. The volute is a funnel that is wrapped around the impeller, whose cross-section area increases towards the discharge port. It slows down the flowing liquid and helps to increase its pressure.

Closed impellers have side walls on both ends. This type of impeller also have wear rings. The rings and the impellers wear away after long use. The clearance between the ring and impeller increases and the pump loses its efficiency. The enlarged clearance could cause longer priming, and reduced capacity of the pump. If efficiency is tolerable for your use, it is suggested that no remedial action be taken, irrespective of amount of clearance your unit has. This is due to the fact that excess clearance is not usually dangerous for the pump. Generally, new pump clearances may be refurbished by merely shimming the back of impeller. In case they are excessively worn out, the rings and the impellers may require replacement. You can easily remove the impeller for replacement by following these easy steps: more

The trash pumps have different types of mechanism for the impellers. The open type impeller has a series of blades mounted on the hub in the center. It has no side walls or any covering. There is maximum amount of vane wear in this type of impellers. The semi closed impellers differ in design. They possess a side wall at the back end. This type of impellers are adjustable, they have minimum wear, and work with maximum efficiency. more

6)If there are grease fittings on the auger it's not a bad ideato grease them till the grease runs out the ends and spin the auger on it's shaft before installing the new pin.

3)chek theauger/ shaft position until they point forward so you can get the appropriate hammer swing.

If the pin is broken the auger will have rotated on the shaft to some degree. You must line up the hole in the auger with the hole in the auger shaft and tap out thebroken piece with a drift or punch. Do it using as little force as possible with as small a hammer as possible. You need not take off the blower housing.

looks like a good idea with the extra spiral on the augers, should provide a more consistant stream of snow to the impeller.
