Margaret also hails from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and has sailing in her blood from her Dad, who captained classic windjammers in Maine. She began traveling internationally early on and developed a love for traditional recipes and an appreciation for the way a good meal can bring families and friends together. An ambitious explorer as well, Margaret attended the National Outdoor Leadership school before earning her bachelors degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder. She is a certified yoga teacher and recently returned to where she received her training in India, joining a month long motorcycle expedition over the highest drivable passes in the Himalayas. Third generation Anegada resident Kelly Faulkner brought me to one of the most interesting places in the area—conch island. This mountain of conch shells are the result of five generations of fishermen discarding the shells of this sea creature prized for its meat. Kelly dove into the water, quickly coming back to the surface with two conch. We cleaned them right on the boat, and enjoyed conch ceviche. The best part though? Launching my conch shell onto the pile.

PLACES AND STORIES TO LOVE

I’ve done my fair share of sunset cruises, but spending four days on a sail boat? That’s new territory. Luckily, I had Captain Lisa Roland leading the way, teaching me sailing essentials while at sea. We talked through the nautical chart (don’t call it a map!), detailing our seven-island adventure. Something I was so excited for is the idea that most of the places we’re visiting are only accessible by boat. It didn’t take long for me to see why people love sailing—it’s so freeing, and few things make you feel how truly insignificant you are in the grand scheme of things. It’s a humbling and breath-taking experience.

Booked a half day trip with Rich and Jill for my wife and I and had an absolutely amazing time! We toured around the islands, I got some snorkeling in while my wife sipped drinks from a floating bar off the boat, and sailed back to the harbor relaxing on the bow. Looking forward to our next adventure in October with them. here

We had an awesome 1/2 day sailing with Rich and crew in January while on a cruise. Rich is experienced and a pleasure to be with. Wish we had booked a full day of sailing with him to see other islands. The cove where he is located makes for a delightful swim, too. Thanks Rich and Jester Sailing!

We had a delightful time with Rich and Jill! The sail was brilliant and beautiful. Memories made with our dear friends. We highly recommend this adventure. In addition, sailing out of Secret Harbour was a great location. here

My three friends and I embarked on a long weekend to St. Thomas. Rich and Jill were fantastic through and through. We ended up doing two full days with them (One on Jester and one on ZunZun). Jester is the sail boat, which Rich says, “Is all about the journey, not the destination.” The ZunZun is the catamaran. Rich was conscious of us being with him for the back to back days, so we went to different spots. The lunch is top notch, beer is ice cold, and each boat has a signature drink (just mix in a water.. so you don’t drunkenly fall of the ‘bow’).
