Driving, parking and doing many other things will be a challenge as more than 110,000 people from around the world are expected to visit South Florida for the 59th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show which runs from Wednesday through Sunday.
Those attending the boat show are being warned not to park on the grass, sidewalks, or even driveways near the event as police will be ticketing drivers and issuing citations to anyone selling parking spots on private residential property.
Traffic will be the heaviest on the roads leading to and from the venues used for the five-day event. Drivers can expect congestion on State Road A1A between Southeast 17th Street and East Sunrise Boulevard, and along Sunrise Boulevard from Northeast 20th Avenue to Bayview Drive, police said. here

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show takes place at the Bahia Mar Yachting Center, Hall of Fame Marina, Las Olas Municipal Marina, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, Pier 66 Marina, Sails Marina/Pier 66 South and the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center.
ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION: BRIGHTLINE AND RIDESHARING
For guests arriving via Brightline, a shuttle bus will offer transportation from the Brightline Station at 101 NW 2nd Ave in Fort Lauderdale to the Water Taxi stop at the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas. Operating hours of the Brightline shuttle are 8:30 am to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 through Saturday, Nov. 3 and 8:30 am to 7:30 pm on Sunday, Nov. 4.
