Yamaha WaveRunners also have their own braking system, known as RiDE. You can discover the current WaveRunners with RiDE system here. [links]

You can reverse a Sea-Doo simply using the iBR braking system. Just pull the left-hand lever until the Sea-Doo slows down and stops completely. If you don’t release the lever, the Sea-Doo will go into reverse automatically.

In the past, watercraft were much smaller, and being honest, far less powerful. here

That’s why the brake lever and the reverse lever are the same. It means if you use the brakes, you’ll slow down and after the PWC stops, it will reverse if you don’t release the lever. here

So keep in mind; even if you shut off the engine or release the throttle, the PWC won’t stop immediately. Even if the model is equipped with brakes, it still needs plenty of room to stop! more

Jet skis don’t have brakes as such, but you can cut the throttle or place the jet ski into reverse.

Jet skis do not come with headlights. This is because it’s illegal to ride a jet ski at night or in dark conditions. Therefore, having headlights on a jet ski makes no sense, and none of the current manufacturers install them. [links]

However, some jet skiers do buy headlights and fit them to their jet ski themselves as an aftermarket accessory. [links]

Hydraulic brake systems can get air in the system you'll need to purge and flush out if there were any leaks.

Most double axle trailers by law need brakes on one axle. U have a choice of electric or hydraulic brakes. Electric is much easier to service that hydraulic on a trailer. Most trucks if they came with a factory tow package support electric brakes. If not factory you need to add an electric brake module. Looks like a fuzz buster.

In Illinois any trailer with a B trailer plate need brakes which is 3001-5000lbs. C plates and higher you need DOT inspection on them so the brakes must work and have proper lights.

Thus, yes, most trailers with dual axles, require brakes. Some states require brakes on all wheels. Some only on the front.

At most i'll be carrying about 2,000 would be a safe guess. So IMO they aren't necessary, and as long as they are functioning properly there's no downside I can think of. more
