Karl: I will try that test, if you could please let me know what the other test is and where the sender unit is located. Is it the ECm that costs like 1200. If so is it possible to just replace that connection.? Or will you have to buy the whole thing. The funny thing is the speedometer works which runs off the same cord from the ecm. If im correct I think the ecm has a wire run from it to the front of the hull in the compartment under hood and then it connects and runs up to the gauges. I will go and test this in the morning. The hull was full of water after the double fitting broke in the hull coming from the water pump to the engine. But i would think that if this had to do with the ecm wouldnt it fry more than just that connection.I pulled apart that connect and it looked like brand new. Still had grease and all. Thanks for all help. [links]
Mirage: The old gauge had about 2 cups of water in the back of it. I found this after I took off the back seal. So i ordered a used one that they say works cause they test them when they get them in. [links]

Hello,
09 XP 800 154" Powertek here
Pulled motor to do E Mod an S mod, rode first 27 miles life was good.
Went out again loaded sled on trailer gauges went blank with speedo an tach stuck at some random number. Grip heaters worked, sled ran good for another 30 miles. Gauges did random sweeps an beeps like normal startup while riding.
2 Days later sled did same thing again sweeping gauges, high beam light glowing, then temp, finally voltage light glowing dim. Never had a problem with sled running or power.
Checked engine grounds, cluster plug, take it to dealer check for a code?
Also fuel gauge does not work full tank = 1 to 4 bars on display, very random!
Side note: Sled had none of these problems before frame repair . I mean the gas gauge never worked or read correctly but I always had working tach an speedo.
Thinking ground?
All lights work, grips work sled runs like new, checked forum never seen a problem like mine. more

check stator/voltage regulator connector (3-yellow, black/red). I have seen many sleds through the shop with damaged terminals, or from people installing butt connectors on the wires because they can't figure out how to remove the terminals.
I am not sure if this conversion was a butcher job or not. Does anyone have ideas what I can do or check?
Is there a fuse I do not know about beside the ones on front of MPEM?
Thanks for any help. more
Those are your positive (pu) and negative (blk)
There are only two wires that power any of the gauges. Usually it goes in one and out to the other. more
Other then that this ski runs perfect. I paid $900 for it. Motor was redone last year (was given paper work). I am having a good time on the ski but would like to get the gauges working. I am new to PWC's and am nervous about how long the gas will last. I always have to keep opening the front to look at the tank. I would just like to enjoy this ski instead of always worrying about gas. more
All LCD screens have a polarizing film on top of the screen. In laymen's terms it darkens the image giving it clarity. One place to purchase this film is from "Aflash Photonics" in Texas. http://www.polarization.com/polarshop/ . For our purpose the film comes in a 10"x6" sheet , hard coated, anti glare with a adhesive back for $31 (Jan 2011), shipping included. Enough to do 8 or more gauges. more
5. Remove the LCD circuit board from the main circuit board - remove the 2 screws and un-plug the round LCD board.
• There is a top and bottom of the polarizing film. Both sides of the film has a protective sheet that eventually is removed. One side of the polarizing film is the sticky side and the other is not. It's best to check a corner of the sheet and determine which side of the film has the adhesive, and put a mark to indicate the top of the Polarizing film. more
