The fuel gauge Sensor is connected to the fuel hose under the fuel tank. The fuel causes hydrostatic pressure measured by the Sensor. The data from this pressure sensor are evaluated by a microcomputer, which compares it to the data in its memory (the memory is set up during calibration) and then shows the current amount of fuel on the display. Therefore, you don't need any float or other modification to the fuel tank. The microcomputer makes many other minor operations to ensure that even in hard terrain with fast level changes, the amount of fuel showed on the display is "clean" and stable. here

Universally usable Fuel gauge that allows to measure the fuel level without need of the float in fuel tank! Device is designed to measure hydrostatic pressure in fuel hosing. Device can be calibrated to compensate the shape of the fuel tank and shows real amount of fuel in the tank.

IMPORTANT NOTE: These sender units were originally designed to be installed in metal gas tanks where the metal tank acts as a ground for the sender unit. Most modern golf carts have plastic tanks so you will have to run a separate ground wire from the battery to the sender unit for the unit to function correctly.

This gauge and sending unit takes the guesswork out of how much fuel is left in your golf cart and utility vehicle. The sending unit can be adapted to fit nearly any fuel tank, and the gauge can be mounted either in the dash or on any 2" bracket.

INSTALLATION TIP: If the 'hot' lead to this gauge is wired directly to the battery positive then the gauge will always be 'ON' and this will slowly drain the battery during long periods of storage. The 'hot' wire to the gauge may come off the switched side of the key so that the gauge reads only when the key is turned to 'ON', or the 'hot' wire may come off the switched side (large terminal) of the main solenoid so the gauge reads only when the pedal is actually depressed. The wiring diagram below shows the gauge wired to the 'switched' side of the key. Please be sure to read the Important Note just below. more

Our aluminum auxiliary fuel tanks for gas are built to meet and exceed Title 49 CFR 393.65 for fuel tanks. The all aluminum .125” thick HD fuel tank was specifically designed for gasoline. All standard gas models come with the following features:

The rectangle aluminum Auxiliary Tank is the most popular in th e lineup. Our standard gas auxiliary fuel tanks range from 30 to 65 gallons. If you want to keep most of your bed space check out our more slender aluminum fuel tank designs. We also have a lay down style that fits under most crossover toolboxes.

Our FUEL SAFE fuel tank/toolbox combos take fuel security to a whole new level! The fuel filler and fittings are inside a compartment under the lockable lid of the toolbox. The fill and fittings are in a compartment that is separated from the toolbox storage area. The toolbox has its own floor unlike others who offer an economy tank/toolbox combo that uses the top of the fuel tank as the toolbox floor. The FUEL SAFE tank/toolbox combo gives you“Security for your fuel”. For added security to an Auxiliary Fuel Tank without a toolbox we offer lockable automotive auxiliary fuel caps. [links]

According to the service manual the standalone fuel sender should measure more

85 ohms. The standalone fuel sender monitors the first 4.75 gallons and the fuel gauge sender the last two. I guess if you wanted to be really nerdy you could adjust the float and wiper points on both senders to customize the fuel gauge reading points. I think I'll just enjoy my new readings. It was an easy project as it only required the removal of the seat.

Motorcycles have relatively small gas tanks so they can't go as far as cars. One question in many motorcyclists' minds is "how much gas do I really have when the gauge says empty?" I decided to do a map of volume vs. sender resistance vs. fuel guage level to see how my bike actually performs.
