Update--So I decided to bite the bullet and bought a used one on eBay that they said tested good. Maybe im doing something wrong but when I checked resistance I got 2500 ohms, only 20 ohms better than mine. What's even worse is I figured I had nothing to lose with the old one, so I started grinding on it to take off the outer cover and maybe see where the short was. Yes, bad call, but I was frustrated, and I wanted to find out more about how a CDI was made . Now I have NO continuity. I just made a bad situation worse. I really don't want to part this out. there must be something missing here that I'm overlooking. For instance- [links]

Im really not sure how to test the NSI, neutral start Interlock.

You might Google "suzuki outboard, part#, cdi. There might be a used one somewhere for less money. Just make sure they guarantee replacement of money, or another used part if part is bad? [links]

Update, I did some more testing. I checked the spark plug wires, and in only getting 2,500 ohms when there's supposed to be 3,100 - 3,200. So there must be an intermittent short in the coil windings. That means I need to get one of those $500 CDI units, #32900-94421. I don't know if the outboard is even worth that much. Not sure what to do. maybe I can find an NOS. here

My DT 20, was 100/1 premix, my 91 DT25 had Oil Level Warning, Water Temp Warning, and Water Flow Warning.

Get float working first, oil float is important. Check wires and resistance.
If motor is running poorly after fixing float, explain what it is doing before going through other things. more

The plug was proper fit and worked as claimed but mark up with restocking fee will make magnum tuning my choice when I have exhausted all other resources. I mistyped my application when purchase but restocking fee is unfair. more

Quick shipping even during this covid misery and perfect for what I was looking for. The only problem is plugs did not come with fixed top nuts. Resonation can shake them off but I cured the issue tightening them with set of pliers so far so good. more

Unless anyone thinks otherwise, I believe I have isolated this down a short or bad ground in the trim motor which oddly enough I need mainly for one simple single reason. getting the boat into my driveway. A 2x4 works, but its a whole lot easier with a power unit.

Wired ground to the starter ground and went for quick run more

It functions well, but for some reason smokes my bonding wires. I believe this would indicate a bad ground, however it has been fine without the tilt on for well over 2 years. After just having it rebuilt, figured its fine to leave connected temporarily. more

Also if touch ground wire from tilt motor to neg battery terminal I get a spark while engine is wired to battery (and off). I believe this shouldnt happen due to the motor housing being grounded through the motor itself already. There should be no voltage or any electrical change from this if I understand electricity correctly. [links]

20min, back to dock and starter motor is fried, I'm not sure if that was the cause or just happened to odd timing. New starter now, disconnected tilt motor and wired direct to battery. I get arcing regardless of up or down. I pulled wiring shrink entirely off thinking maybe old/bad, nicked etc wires, but nothing. I expect some spark due the amp draw from the tilt motor, but not an entire arcing and almost welding to battery. Motor does not get hot but will run and function with direct wiring. [links]

tilt motor just was rebuilt and reassembled, I put it back on, wired everything (initially had up/down backwards, fixed that) Went to use it and smoked a bonding wire pretty good. here
