R ead your Manual! It may sound boring. actually, it IS boring. Your Mercruiser manual does have some basic maintenance tips that you should know. I also encourage owners to get to know their mechanic. Have a good certified Mercruiser mechanic go over your drive and engine with you. It's worth $50 to $100 and can save you problems and money in the long run.

For winter storage. in my case 3 months (starting today ), should my outdrive be in the full up or full down position. During winterization, they disconnected my batteries, so I may have to do a little digging if the answer is down.
I have just replaced all the bellows for the Alpha 1 drive from my boat. The old drive shaft bellows have a set in them, as do the exhaust bellows, they are both curved. The new bellows are straight.
I'll just live with it up for the winter. here
