Inspect the primer bulb if the engine is not starting. If there is no resistance, fuel is not entering the engine. The primer bulb and entire fuel line may have to be replaced. more
Check the spark plugs and filter if there is a sudden and noticeable drop in power while the engine is at full throttle. The plugs may simply need cleaning or replacing, or perhaps water has gotten into the fuel filter. Also, check to see if there is a kink in the fuel line. These are basic, do-it-yourself repairs. more
Suzuki outboards are produced by Suzuki Marine. They can range from 2.5 horsepower to 300 horsepower. Outboard motors are attached externally to the stern. Common problems in Suzuki outboard motors can be easily diagnosed from home.
Inspect the propeller for damage. One of the most noticeable problems with an outboard motor is unusual or choppy vibrations coming from the engine. This abnormal movement may indicate a bent, broken or altered propeller. Turn the motor off, pull the motor out of the water and visually inspect the propeller for damage. here

You sure you don't just have a fuel pump going out and not able to keep up with the fuel demand. I don't think the 1985 models had the slow mode. Just an over temp or low oil alarm. more
Thanks for your responses: The taco seems to be working fine , it doesn't have any warning lights on it , I have found a green wire next to the fuel pump that has been disconnected ,it could be the alarm wire as i remember the mechanic did this last year to try and isolate the problem. go figure When this first started and you tryed to run WOT it would cut back at 4800 rpm or so , just drop out back to 3000 rpm , I ended up taking the thing back as he couldn't find the problem , I just ran it below 4800 and it was fine , after a couple of outings I replaced the plugs and for some reason would run WOT but I noticed the problem had shifted to when you fist tryed to get going cold it would cut back to 3000 , if you turned it of and started it again it would run fine all day , now it wont , after many attempts it just drops back to what I have called limp mode after about 10 seconds , it still starts and idles OK.. more
welcome to iboats . very strange that no alarm is sounding, if it goes into limp mode it would show on the tach straight away . you sure your tach is working properly?
This post sound like what's wrong with my 1985 yamaha 40 hp 2stroke. Did you fix the problem? Can you share what you did. Thanks here
I have an 05 toyota highlander. It wemt into limp mode with the check engine, trac off and vsc light on. The OBD told me code P2102 throttle actuator control circut low. I replaced the throttle body, relays, fuses and accelerator. Ive done the idle relay reset and cleared codes, and still same thing. Limp mode still on. Please someone help me!! here
Difficult situation. If they have found a solution to the problem, it might be running for very long after the repair/fix. I would absolutely consider trying getting the money back because a bad rod bearing on such a new engine can cause really expensive repairs in the future when the warranty has expired. For example Volkswagens problems with the 1.4 tfsi engine, even if the new parts are stronger the problems still come back later on again.
Fixing limp mode often requires a full diagnosis to replace parts and waste money without results. [links]
I've tried everything put a new transmission and input output sensors unplugged the battery for 5 minutes all kinds of stuff I've heard on the internet and nothing I'm thinking maybe my computer has to be reset or clear it or something but that cost a lot of money here
I have a 2012 Honda accord in limp mode. Car want go past 25mph. Checked the codes and showing crank sensor, and o2, o3 misfire and random misfire. Any suggestions on what I may be experiencing?
If you checked everything above without results, there is nothing more to do than making a proper diagnosis not wasting your money. more
