It’s no surprise that average receipts from Chopard, De Beers, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Rolex are among the top 15 in the country, but what about Graff and Leviev? If jewelers were ranked “by largest average transactions,” surely these companies would make the top 15. It is unclear if Bundle was assessing volume in addition to average sale or average sale per company. Bundle states the data in the graphic (below) is from Citi. Perhaps additional data would create a more inclusive list.

According to Bundle.com, the most expensive jeweler in the U.S. is Harry Winston in New York City. Results were based on average receipt amounts pulled from millions of transactions from July 2010 to June 2011. Harry Winston tops the list with an average sales receipt of $8,388. here

Bundle did mention why Tiffany & Co. was omitted, and the same likely follows for Cartier and others with popular items starting at lower price points. here

1804 Silver dollar, “Original” or Class I, PR68 (PCGS grade) – $7,500,000. The 1804 silver dollar is one of the most famous United States coins. A small handful of these coins were struck (actually beginning in 1834 and back-dated) for presentation to dignitaries including the King of Siam and the Sultan of Muscat. The finest is the Sultan of Muscat-Virgil Brand-Walter Childs specimen graded PR68 by PCGS and now in a private collection. here

1907 Indian Head $20 St. Gaudens gold pattern, PR69 (PCGS estimated grade) – $15,000,000. This unique gold pattern was designed by famed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It marries Saint-Gaudens’ $10 Indian Head obverse design to his $20 reverse design. Some numismatists refer to this coin as “Teddy’s coin” in reference to President Theodore Roosevelt’s involvement in coaxing Saint-Gaudens to redesign our nation’s $10 and $20 gold pieces.

It is amazing that this dramatic mint error was never discovered for many years. One does not need a magnifying glass or microscope to see the dramatic doubling on the last two digits of the year on the obverse of the coin. Regardless, many of these coins circulated for years before being pulled and put in somebody's coin collection. Here is a rare example of one that was saved before it ever experienced the harsh environment of circulation in commerce. [links]

This coin is the only one in the Buffalo nickel series that has significant doubling on the reverse of the coin. Therefore, coin collectors who seek to assemble a complete set of Buffalo Nickels actively seek one of these coins. Most of these coins found their way into circulation and therefore, uncirculated examples sell for a premium price.

The Liberty Head nickel is surrounded by controversy from its very beginnings. The first nickels produced in 1883 did not have the word CENTS on it. Some people gold plated them and tried to pass them off as five-dollar gold pieces. The mint quickly added the denominations to the reverse of the coin. Coin dealer B. Max Mehl of Fort Worth, Texas, spent a fortune on advertising to enticing people to search their pocket change for valuable 1913 Liberty Head nickels. He offered to pay the princely sum of fifty dollars per coin. This created a lot of hype and demand and that has never died over the years.
