Yes. The character in the movie, Brad Bodnick, who has a goatee and is portrayed by The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal, is based on Jordan Belfort's real-life Quaalude supplier, Todd Garret. In his memoir, the real Jordan Belfort claims that Garret sold him approximately 10,000 Quaaludes.

You have to have a sense of humor about filming these scenes. But the men, especially, have to keep themselves in check. We were in a van on the way home to Manhattan, being bused from this crazy shoot, and I was quietly sitting behind two men who were also in the orgy. here

The yachting disaster is one of the most dramatic scenes in Martin Scorsese’s blockbuster The Wolf of Wall Street, and like many of the tales in the Leonardo DiCaprio flick, it’s based on a true story. In real life, predatory tycoon Jordan Belfort bought a yacht in 1993 called Big Eagle and renamed her Nadine, after his English-born second wife. The vessel had been built in 1961 by Witsen & Vis in Holland for fashion icon Coco Chanel, but had undergone many transformations by the time Belfort got his mitts on it. Originally 121 feet long, in the 1970s she was extended by nearly 15 feet, and in 1988 she was cut in half and had another 29-foot section grafted on, finally totaling 167 feet. here

As his endeavours continue, and his pockets fill up, he totally loses the once innocent boy he was. Belfort, along side his friends turn into drug and sex addicts who act extremely irresponsibly at times. Belfort even begins to have an affair and cheat on his first wife. Because of the physical changes in Belfort’s life, it changes who he is as a person. Throughout the film, it is difficult for one to say if Belfort or any other of the main characters are making Progressive or Regressive developments. Although they are processing with their careers, and making more money for themselves, the characters are losing their feel for ethics. They are not being the husbands they should be and the father figures they should be at the same time. It is all pending on which perspective the audience views them in. Next, The Wolf of Wall Street follows the three act structure. The major characters of the “brokers” are introduced and then go on to start Stratton Oakmont. The setting changes from place to place but usually revolves around the company headquarters or some prestigious place rich people usually go to. The conflict is then introduced when Forbes does an article on the company. The FBI and the SEC now have the company on their radar. The conflation of this movie is when Belfort invites the FBI over to his yacht and confronts them (no pun intended). The meeting doesn’t go so well, and after tempers flare the FBI is on Belfort more than ever. As time goes on, Belfort’s luck simply runs out, and the resolution is jail time for his illegal actions. more

The Wolf of Wall Street by Martin Scorsese an absolute masterclass. A film that is based on the late 1980’s introduces Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) who essentially goes from Rags to Riches. After taking on the opportunity to join a brokerage firm in Wall Street, he watches his dreams crash, just like the market did on the first day of his job in 1987. After hurdling some obstacles, Belfort goes on to start his own firm from scratch, Stratton Oakmont. After recruiting his team of “Brokers”, the original group of 20 go on to make loads of money convincing investors to invest in penny stocks. After Illegal actions, parties, drugs and hundreds of hookers later, Stratton Oakmont was being hunted by the SEC and FBI for their wrong doings. This film shows the finesse of Jordan Belfort, but luck eventually runs out for everyone.

The Wolf of Wall Street is a film that has many different genres mixed in to the fantastic film. The main Genre of the Wolf of Wall Street is a comedy. Pending on a persons humor, majority of audiences are laughing hysterically throughout the film. However, as we dig deeper, we realize that there are more genres mixes in. Although the film is a comedy, there most be emphasis that it is a black comedy. Majority of the audience will be howling and laughing till they fall out of their seats. The genre of black comedy makes jokes out of controversial topics, but tries to make light of it. Lots of people in the audience will love it, but Scorsese needs to be careful for the ones easily offended. There is also [links]

Scorsese’s sound throughout the film helps and provides the tone which fits the film. Although Scorsese uses older songs in his soundtrack, the vibe to them is used appropriately. The audience hears the sounds that give them that upbeat jive. There are diegetic sounds throughout the film. Some examples consist of taking Naomi to dinner and having romantic sounds in the background, loud chants, screams and loud music during energetic times.Although the diegetic sounds are a good touch to the film, it is the non-diegetic sounds which puts the cherry on the cake and helps the film thrive. A proper example of this is when Donnie, Ben and Rugrat are all playing beer pong in the yacht. The drugs eventually hit the guys. The scene slows down and the slow music helps emulate how slow their motor skills are. The audience feels the effects of the characters drugs although they are totally sober themselves. If characters were in an upbeat mood, like when Steve Madden’s stock price made the Stratton Oakmont 3 billion in one day, the music was electric. When times were not going to well, the music was either cut completely or playing slowly so the audience could feel the sorrow. [links]
