About a month ago, I had a misfire in cylinder 3. I Decided to just swap out all spark plugs, and only plug that gave me a problem to get out was of course #3. Also replaced coil pack on #3. When I finally got the plug to come loose and pulled it out, a chunk of porcelain was missing. I've read about that happening before and solutions for it, but I'm afraid I may be past that point. here

Since then, the engine just is not running the same. Not always an engine light, but will misfire and run like crap on and off. Some days I have 0 problems, others it likes to sputter and misfire bad. Talked with another mechanic I know who said my engine may just be screwed and I should sell the car. I have only had it since October and absolutely love the car, so I absolutely do not want to sell but am tired of it running like crap and am not sure what to do. more

When I knew what happened, I had it towed to a shop to see if I could have them remove the pieces. What I should not have done before that was start the engine for just a second to see if I could blow the pieces out of the exhaust. I have heard from different people that this shouldn't be too big of an issue, the shop that removed the pieces said they got most but not all of them but should be enough for car to be okay. more

After few days, same problem again and cylinder 2 misfire and spark plug fouling with oil. This time spark plugs (all 4 ) were changed and car was running good. But now engine seems very rough so I got the car checked again, from Audi this time. They said car engine is rough and Misfiring also error code P2188 showing and oil on spark plug#2. [links]

However, if you have worn out piston rings, then they won’t be able to stop oil from flowing toward the spark plugs. You’ll also see blue exhaust and there may be a smell of engine oil that consumes the cabin. more

Spark plugs are very important components of a vehicle because they are responsible for generating the spark which ignites the fuel and air mixture in the internal combustion chamber.

See if you can figure out where the oil is coming from. I would guess your valve cover gasket is leaking.

Vehicles depend on valve guides to assist in managing the intake of air into the engine. Basically, the valve guides secure the valves during the operation of the engine. The only problem is that valve guide seals eventually start to wear out as you continue using your vehicle.

Please help. I just bought a Audi Q3 2.0 TFSI Automatic 125000 Kms from a dealer. Very next day car suddenly started shaking and engine light on. I called road side assistance and they found Spark plug is fouling and misfire in cylinder 2. Also the spark plug #2 had lots of oils (thread side). Next day I got my car checked and car mechanic said everything seems good and there is no leakage (gaskets , valves etc). He assumed while last servicing some one over filled the engine oil. He cleaned the plugs and extra oil in chamber. [links]

A failed head gasket is NOT a single thing. Head gaskets may fail in several different ways. Many failure types are possible, each with different symptoms. The symptoms that we may notice will depend on; how and where the head gasket fails. Exhaust fumes immediately destroy inhibitors in the coolant; and set up an acid condition. [links]

When a vehicle overheats, it puts stress on all of its metal components. This includes the cylinder head, which is often at the center of the heat. This can cause the head gasket to fail. Consequently, leading to cylinder head cracking; as the components warp and pressure begins to leak. All drivers should properly maintain their vehicles to prevent overheating. more

Major cylinder head cracking, can cause severe damage to the cylinders of the engine. So, when replacing either the cylinder head or the head gasket; make sure that you are using the correct parts.

Combustion leaks in the valve area force coolant away during heavy acceleration; causing excessive heat build-up. When acceleration stops, the diverted coolant rushes back to the area; resulting in internal engine damage. If the cylinder head has warped even slightly, it can cause leaks.

The cylinder head, used in combination with a head gasket, seals the cylinders of the engine. In the case of minor leaks, the cylinders may lose compression and misfire.

To prevent overheating, make sure that your radiator is filled and in good condition; with a tightly sealed rad cap. Furthermore, check to be certain that your engine thermostat is in good working order; and accurately reflecting the temperature. Make sure that you have no stretched belts or leaky hoses; and that the fan is working effectively. [links]

There are O-Ring seals at the bottom of the spark plug wells and if a seal starts to fail, oil can leak past these seals and into the spark plug well. Again, this issue should be repaired as soon as possible and the spark plugs should be replaced at the same time. here

Sometimes when oil leaks from a valve cover gasket it leaks all the way down to the spark plug galley and eventually seeps inside the spark plug tubes. As a result, This will cause a misfire or reduce engine performance.

Between the valve cover and the engine are gaskets that have the tendency to fail over time. Due to the high temperature of the engine the gaskets can get brittle, and start to leak.

Also, A oil leak in spark plug well can even lead to an engine fire.

Oil on a spark plug, or on spark plug wires, can cause unexpected problems. Issues like incorrect spark plug gap, leaking valve covers or moisture intrusion can also damage ignition coils. It can also foul the ignition coil, interfering with ignition timing. It’s import to fix this leak as soon as you discover it.
