Well I had 1 component correct. The drawing shows the15KE200A in the circuit but assembly it’s not there MOSORB, metal oxide semi conductor & forget what the ORB means, then in the original drawing it shows a diode, the one with the silver stripe. I think now they are one & the same, but different than a regular diode with the wings on the straight line. Been a long time. more

Is there a source for the Atom Ignition Module? I know they are no longer produced. Any old stock available or replacement brands?

$60 for one. Yikes. I’m going to make my own. I was hoping another company was making them. Sounds like the Nova’s are junk for outboards. [links]

Re: 1973 Eska/Ted Williams 15 hp ignition upgrade? here

These systems along with a matching coil, have been replacing older outboards/tractors etc. with a point/condenser system.
Now, these Ted William's have a SSI setup with 1 magnet on the flywheel and one trigger magnet in the center hub of the flywheel; which can be easily removed. Does anyone see why I wouldn't be able to use this Nova setup to use on my Eska? I really don't see any difference between the SSI and the point setup except for the style of electronic parts. If you remove all the electronics from both styles of engines wouldn't it be the same? Just a magnitized flywheel attached to a spindle, add the coil, get it lined up, attach the ECM and hook up to spark plugs.

Sandbagging around other parts of the web, I've seen people replace their ignition systems with some sort of ECM; mainly one called Nova II Amazon.com: ELECTRONIC TRANSISTORIZED IGNITION MODULE NOVA II: Patio, Lawn & Garden

I replaced the ignition points that were no longer available on my 1960's Sears chainsaw with one of the modules. The saw now fires right up as id did many years ago. I also replaced both sets of point in a 1952 Mercury outboard motor with Nova 2 modules. The starting takes more of a pull to get a good spark than with the points system, but it does run well after the start. I think it just needs a faster cranking speed than what I was originally used to,for the modules to fire. I'll see how the outboard runs on a boat when the weather gets warmer next spring.

I brought the Nova 11 Specifically to use on an old Tecumseh H 25. However it does not work, I replaced the coil with a new one, but as the instructions say, older designed coils probably will not work. I have a good spark with new points, coil, and condenser. I tried the unit on a Victa 160cc motor mower coil and it works OK

Can't get points for my old 1970's Stihl 031 AV. Been dead for about 10 years. It roared back to life on the second pull. Small enough to allow easy mounting. I'll probably convert some other small engines as the points fail. more
