See full version: What happens when you put straight gas in a two cycle engine

a two-cycle engine derives all of its lubrication from the pre-mix oil that is mixed with the gasoline. this is done either in the raw fuel or via an oil injection system. if you have an oil injection system there is nothing wrong with putting straight gas into the tank as long as the oil reservoir contains a lubricant designed for an oil injection system. however if you do not have a oil injection system putting straight gasoline into the engine will more than likey cause the engine to lose lubrication and either rapidly wear down any internal components or in the worst case seize the engine solid

If you are on a personal connection, like at home, you can run an anti-virus scan on your device to make sure it is not infected with malware.

A four-stroke engine uses regular gasoline, like your car (which also happens to be a four-stroke engine), while the oil is injected from a separate reservoir. This eases the burden of fueling the engine up. more

As far as the application is concerned for the two engine types, the fuel-oil mixture is used in a 2-stroke engine while you pour oil into a separate port with a 4-cycle engine. more

A typical 2-stroke engine makes one rotation for every explosion. 2-stroke engines have fuel and oil mixed, fuel for the combustion, and Oil for the lubrication. Therefore, you don’t have a separate oil inlet on the machine, and you only need to buy one type of fuel which is already mixed with oil. In the case of a 4-stroke engine, two rotations are made for every explosion. Fuel and oil need to be added separately in a four-stroke engine (not in any fixed ratio), but you will need to buy the Fuel and Oil separately.

Fuels with 10 percent of ethanol content are approved for use in lawnmowers. Gasoline blends containing higher ethanol levels are not. Using fuel with more than 10 percent of ethanol can damage your lawnmower engine and may also void your equipment’s warranty.

Did you know that while we use the term “2 stroke” in Australia, it is referred to as “2 cycle” is used in other parts of the world. Petrol is also known as “gas” or “gasoline” so a 2 cycle oil ratio chart and a gas oil ratio chart both are the same as a 2 stroke mixing chart. [links]

Two stroke fuel is basically unleaded petrol mixed with 2 stroke oil. The oil to fuel mix ratio should be specified in your engines instruction manual.

Well, when exposed to air, ethanol attracts moisture. And as you probably already know, when water mixes into an oil its properties change, so it no longer has the desired effect. more

2 cycle and 2 stroke are terms that can be used interchangeably . Generally, people in the US and Canada use the term 2 cycle whereas in Europe and Australia they say 2 stroke. They both refer to an internal combustion engine that completes a power cycle with one upstroke plus one downstroke (totalling 2 strokes) of the piston. [links]

Also plenty of other machines use two-stroke engines — like model aeroplanes, chainsaws, mowers, leaf blowers, string trimmers / whipper snippers, construction machinery, and snowmobiles.
