It takes hours to set the new trim sending unit to my stock gauge.
Once set out of water, try every position 10 times. Shut down batteries, then back on, and try other 10 times, works fine.
Put it water, and the gauge is off anywhere for nothing to 3/4 off.
Next week in water, off again different position.
It wont hold a memory.
Is it supposed to have a memory, or power supply to it. or is the new sending unit bad. more

A factory part was provided so no issues with functionality using the existing factory gauge. It is important to have a shop manual to provide the knowledge to remove the old unit, which has a clip on the bilge side of the transom to lock the wiring cork in place. I also found a fiber optic inspection camera valuable to see the clip location above the incoming water hose. The water hose was removed to provide additional space and the clip slid off with 12 inch long pliers with curved tips. Once the faulty sender wiring cork was removed the new sender wiring cork was installed with one person pushing on the cork from outside the boat while another person pulls on the wires from inside the boat. With the wiring cork seated the stainless wire clip can be slid into the back groove of the cork exposed in the engine compartment inside the boat. Lubricate the wiring cork liberally before trying to install.
