When you have to make a repair on the bodywork of your vehicle, you can use fiberglass cloth to fix many different areas. Fiberglass cloth, properly applied and hardened, will leave the body ready to paint so it looks as good as new. Although bodywork can seem complex and intimidating, it's actually quite easy. It takes a little patience and it can be slightly messy, but you'll find you can easily make a repair to your car body using fiberglass cloth.
You cannot start using the fiberglass cloth until you’ve prepared the surface to accept it. Start by using coarse-grain sandpaper on the entire area on and around the repair. The surface has to be scuffed until it’s smooth to the touch and dull. [links]
Using the utility knife, cut one layer of the fiberglass cloth to the size of the area needing to be repaired. You’ll need to cut a number of other layers, each one smaller than the last, until you have enough layers to fill the area being repaired. Stack them to make a mat of fiberglass cloth and put it aside for a few minutes. [links]

Fabricating interior panels from fiberglass is a skill that auto trimmers often overlook or underutilize. The benefits, however, should not be ignored – as working with this medium allows you to create shapes and structures that cannot be easily done with wood and panel board alone.
It seems like all the great interior fiberglass pros, are more into the automotive-multimedia industry rather than auto-upholstery industry. Do you agree? And if so, why do you think this is the case? [links]
Thanks Tina, I’m glad you enjoyed it! [links]

When repairing fiberglass, the first thing you need to do is ensure you know the cause. This could show if the damage was caused by something outside the boat, or if something went wrong inside. The cracks can also indicate if the damage was caused by a structural defect. In many cases, poor fiberglass repairs can also result in damages becoming worse or even dangerous.
Serious damages may require a professional in to repair your boat, but small holes or scratches may be something you can do yourself. You might be able to repair your boat hull in-water if the damage is above the waterline. Otherwise, you will have to remove your boat from the water in order to do repairs. Gather the materials required including a patch kit and you are ready to begin.
Cracks to holes in fiberglass which might require a slightly different approach when it comes to repairs. Holes in fiberglass may penetrate deeper into the surface, the repair should be fairly easy to do as long as no structural damage occurred. So, it is always important to determine the cause and extent of the damage. here
