Portability: This watercraft wasn't named Porta-Bote for nothing. The boat is extremely portable and very easy to store. The Porta-Bote Genesis can be folded down to a surfboard size of only 4 inches thick! When folded the Porta-Bote 10' model can fit on top of sedans, trucks, SUV's, jeeps, RV's, planes, and other boats. We transported the test unit on the roof racks of a 4Runner, tied on with ropes, and we were off in minutes to our fishing location. The boat and the hollow seats are also light enough for one person to haul around, either loading, storing, or bringing it down to the launch area. Speaking of launching, one can purchase the Porta-Dolly that hooks onto the side of the boat, and in seconds you are wheeling your way to and from the water with all your fishing tackle and motor in one trip.
Introduction: Boats come in all sizes, shapes, and sizes. but among all the portable watercrafts available today, nothing quite compares to the Porta-Bote. This unique, one of the kind, boat folds up to a surfboard size and becomes a fully functional row or powerboat on the water when fully expanded. While some people are skeptical about how well a fold up craft can perform, we found the Porta-Bote delivered respectable hydrodynamics, solid stability, and most of all. was extremely portable and effortless to employ.

I picked this cool little boat up last night, and was planning on keeping it on our travel trailer. Its nice, but I don’t think I’m going to keep it. I just have too much stuff in a tiny house. Need to purge. Selling it for what I paid for it, $125. I have the title, last time it was registered was 2013.
I bought it from an older couple that said they had used it once. It is in great condition, looks like it has only been used a handful of times.
12.5’ Long. Folds flat like a surfboard, only about 4” thick when folded. They say it will scoot at 15-20mph with a 5hp motor.
I don't think the guy that sold me the boat is lying as I saw all the original paperwork So a dealer held a boat for 16 years (and being a dealer did not know about the recall -or- "repurchase" what they now call it once I told them that a recall was never registered with the Gov). what the HELL? [links]
I called back to try to make sense out of all of this and the guy then Hung Up on me because he told me I was calling their 800 number and told me to call their 650 number. I then called back pretty mad and spoke to someone by the name of Sandy who seemed to explain a diff story that the first guy, but at least he did not hang up on me. here
I purchased a used 1996 Porta Boat (square transom Genesis III) from a guy who had all the reciepts from when he bought it new in 1996. However, according the the manufacture, (based on the last 2 numbers on the hull ID xxxx80) it is a 1980 model. They said it was a prototype where only a handful (approx 25) were made and they did a "recall" (internal company recall) where they offered to replace or repurchase these as they did not live up to Porta Botes standards. They then went back to the canoe shape type boats up until 1990.
In the past when I called Porta Bote, they told me that the Genesis III was made from 1990 to 2000, and now they tell me that the prototypes in 1980 was also called Genesis III. what the HELL? Next they tell me that they get alot of calls where old boats are sold as newer boats. what the HELL? more
Does anyone out there know anything about this? Isn't there something called strict liability? Or they jut trying to make a sale.
