The Great Barrier Reef in the Coral Sea is a magic gem under the water. This massive reef ecosystem lies just off the north-eastern, eastern coast of Australia in Queensland , Australia. It is such a treasured part of Australia due to its incredible size.

However, humans are said to affect the Great Barrier Reef through coal mining, overfishing, digging canals, just to name a few. Anything that disturbs the seafloor where the coral reefs are located can vastly affect the reef and its intricate ecosystem. here

Coral bleaching is caused by global warming because of mining and burning of fossil fuels. Another result of this includes the ocean heating up. The heated areas cause coral bleaching. Coral bleaching is where the corals lose their vibrant colours and die off.

Introduce tighter controls on agriculture for all catchments that flow into the Great Barrier Reef. The powerful sugarcane and beef cattle grazing industries need to do more to stop pesticides and nutrients reaching the reef. As a marine park authority water quality report says: here

If the federal and Queensland governments are serious about managing the reef instead of producing a greenwash report that does not have the backing of the nation’s leading reef experts, here are some critical actions they need to take.

Destruction and regeneration are the reef’s two great constants. But before industry, cities, fishing, sugar cane, land clearing for grazing, pesticides, fertilisers, coal ports and tourism, the reef had the capacity to recover after a natural disaster. Now that resilience is threatened.

Drive Australia towards a stronger future of renewable energy and use the Great Barrier Reef as a flagship for reducing our reliance on coal at home and as an export. A senior scientist at the Australian Institute of Marine Science, Janice Lough, was unequivocal when she spoke at the recent Australian Coral Reef Society conference in Brisbane: “The human influence on global climate is now clear. Between 1950 and the first six months of 2014, the atmospheric concentration of the main greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, increased by 100 parts per million.” By exporting so much of the world’s coal we are inevitably importing the destruction of our most precious ecosystems. more

Fast track the establishment of management plans for the Coral Sea Marine Reserve. At just over 1m square kilometres, this is the biggest single gazetted marine park in the world, but the Abbott government has suspended its operation pending a review of federal marine parks. It is vital to the health of the Great Barrier Reef because the two are oceanic next-door neighbours and their ecosystems depend on each other as species move from one park to the other. Huge populations of pelagic fish such as shark and tuna live and travel between the Coral Sea and the Great Barrier Reef and are at risk of over-exploitation by commercial fishers. here

In the largest green sea turtle colony, a lopsided majority of newborn babies are female. Male turtles hatch from just one percent of the eggs around the Great Barrier Reef. Researchers now fear for the survival of the species. [links]

The site, which attracts millions of tourists each year, is the world's largest coral reef, home to some 400 types of coral, 1500 species of fish and 4000 varieties of molluscs. here

Scientists have observed widespread bleaching across the reef since the 1990s, with the most significant bleaching events occuring in 2016 and 2017 and claiming an estimated two-thirds of the reef. here

One of the biggest reasons was money. To be more specific you get paid $13 per hour, hours are not guaranteed and my schedule was 25 hours per week. I was working inside the kitchen at Pop Century Resort. As a college student, it's not affordable. You pay approximately $800 per month to live in a shared bedroom at the apartment complex. On top of just rent itself, I have a HEFTY car payment, alongside with car insurance, phone bill, then the basic essentials such as food and gas. Adding the calculations, I would have zero profit of working here, and almost no extra spending money for literally anything. here

When you are taking care of yourself, you feel good about yourself. You will have more energy and motivation to get things done and have a greater sense of accomplishment knowing you are taking time and energy to better yourself. Health is a broad term that encompasses many different aspects from physical, mental, emotion, or spiritual health. Getting healthy for you might mean getting a gym membership and eating healthier, or maybe going to therapy, setting healthy boundaries, or practicing religion to bring peace into your life. Many of these things go hand in hand especially if you have been too depressed to focus on your activity or healthy eating. Getting healthier in just one of these areas may have a ripple effect and improve other areas of your health. Sometimes taking supplements to help your mental health is a good place to start and many have had success with products like cbd oil. Exercise is also a great way to blow off steam and release endorphins.

Perhaps you have had your eye on something that is a little more than you would spend, but is a good quality item that you would love to own. Even if you have to save up, get yourself what you have been wanting. Maybe this is a bigger item like a car that you have wanted for years, a nice piece of jewelry, or as simple as a new skincare line, a nice outfit, or a piece of furniture. Chances are this specific item will bring joy and excitement to the mundane everyday.
