So, what is a major lighted navigational aid? Commonly we know the most famous as the lighthouse.
If lit, the light will be white. If not lit, the top will appear rounded. The white is usually retroreflective. [links]
Navigational buoys are buoys that mark out boating lanes and correctly deal with navigating your boat in the appropriate direction and place. Although technically even a marker is navigational, we think the buoys deserve their section. What is the difference? Markers are anchored to solid ground. Buoys float out in the water and are anchored in place. [links]
