But when all’s said and done, there’s something very pleasant about the steady motion of a good boat in an ocean swell. A life on the ocean wave!
Waves radiate outwards in all directions over long distances from a storm centre, and as they travel, the component wave trains sort themselves out. The smaller, shorter waves quickly lose their energy and disappear, leaving the longer-period waves to reach coasts up to perhaps 1,000 miles away, in the form of swell. This long, regular roll from a distant storm may be quite unrelated to the wind-driven sea conditions locally, but it can have a big impact on passage planning, safety and comfort. If there is also a big local sea running in a different direction, a cross sea results, which can produce steep and dangerous waves. Because of their length, swell waves are also particularly prone to rearing up in shallow water. Surfers love them. They call them prowlers. [links]
Wave patterns are not regular because multiple wave trains with different periods interact resulting in a pattern with variable amplitude
How depth and wavelength interact to affect the motion of water in waves

This yacht has opted to take a fair tide through The Swinge off Alderney, but even a relatively gentle wind against a racing tide kicks up steep seas [links]
If you just want quick social media shots then Jpeg is fine.
Ideally they will be ‘frontlit’ facing the light but if the sun’s behind their backs (backlit) just let them be silhouetted for a different effect.
Any editing will work significantly better with a RAW image over a Jpeg.
Start at, say…. 1/4 power and try a shot. more
But break the rules if you like. How about 2/3 sea, and 1/3 sky? more
At the beginning I would suggest you only process just enough to get your desired result.
Forecabin: Cabin in the fore part of a ship. more
Leech: The aft or trailing edge of a fore-and-aft sail; the leeward edge of a spinnaker; a vertical edge of a square sail. The leech is susceptible to twist, which is controlled by the boom vang and mainsheet. here
Wells: Places in the ship’s hold for the pumps.
Bimmy: A punitive instrument.
The Charlotte Lozier Institute, research arm of the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List, has listed the Moderna vaccine among the "ethically uncontroversial CoV-19 vaccine programs." [links]
However, Lanciotti said, there is a distinction between "design" and "production." Although it may seem like a subtle difference, he said in this case it makes more sense to assess the ethicality of the production of the vaccine itself, rather than any pre-existing knowledge and understanding that went into its development.
Moderna's vaccine is based on the coronavirus' RNA, and uses a spike protein, or peplomer, from SARS-CoV-2 rather than cell lines derived from aborted fetuses.
"Neither the Pfizer nor the Moderna vaccine involved the use of cell lines that originated in fetal tissue taken from the body of an aborted baby at any level of design, development, or production," the bishops wrote. here
"There is thus a connection [to fetal tissue], but it is relatively remote," the bishops concluded. here
